This is an instrumental song that I've wanted to know title and artist since I was a little kid. It's kind of slow, but kind of mid-tempo slow. It's featured in the current Nissan Sentra commercials. When I was little, I heard this a lot on what I'm assuming was AC radio... but I didn't know about radio then so who knows.
Also, this is the song that when I took a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, they made us listen to this in our headphones to "enhance the scenery" LOL.

I think the song you are looking for is the theme to "Chariots Of Fire" by Vangelis. It was a #1 single on Billboard's Hot 100 in the spring of 1982. At the time, it held the record for the longest climb to number one. When it first charted in late 1981, it was listed as "Titles".
Vangelis did a lot of work with Jon Anderson of Yes. One of their collaborations was "State Of Independence", a minor hit for Donna Summer in late 1982.

Thanks prenatt,
This isn't the song I was looking for, BUT it is another song I've liked since I was a little kid and never knew who it was by, and thus where to find it.
The song I was looking for is a little but slower than this song, but similar in style.

Which Nissan Sentra commercial were you describing? The one that uses "Chariots Of Fire" is when the guy leaves behind his friend who was relieving himself behind a tree. They play "Chariots Of Fire" as the friend runs trying to catch up to the car.
I haven't seen the one you are looking for yet.
