This song was the second of many hits that charted by the biggest group of the 1980s. Released from the album "Picture This", the song only peaked at number 36 back in the summer of 1982 on Billboard, but managed to climb up to #15 on R&R.
This song had sort of a fifties feel to it and I just noticed that all of Huey Lewis's albums have a song like this on it, and it usually is released somewhere down the line.
On his 1984 album "Sports", the fifties-flavored song was "If This Is It".
His 1986 LP "Fore!" spawned the song "Doing It All For My Baby".
His 1988 album "Small World" was sort of the "odd man out", since none of the three songs released from this LP, a commercial disappointment compared to its predecessors, had that nostalgic touch to it (though I imagine that there's one song on there with that sound - they just didn't release it after the title track and "Give Me The Keys" failed to do well on the charts).
In 1991, Huey Lewis's album "Hard At Play" fared somewhat worse than "Small World", spawning two songs - "Couple Days Off" and "It Hit Me Like A Hammer". The latter had that familiar slow fifties sound to it, but Huey Lewis had clearly already had his day in the sun. He's released a few albums since then, but neither of them made much noise on the charts, unfortunately.

Wow! Good to hear that this song did alright on the R&R charts. But that trend was pretty popular in 1982. There were many hits that did much better on R&R. "Your Imagination" by Hall and Oates comes to mind. I first heard this Huey Lewis song long after it was popular. Our local station played it every so often which was not typical of an average number 36 peak position of a single, that is almost never heard after it falls off the chart.
Yes, I like this song, and miss the days when Huey Lewis and the News were a big part of the Top 40 chart. Can you imagine them having a pop hit now? I'm sure they'd fit right in with artists like 50 Cent, Lil' Kim and Ciara! Not!

It's good but they've had better.

I like this one... definitely one of their most underrated. Still, most of their other stuff is better.
