At the time her biggest pop hit, but it didn't inspire album sales and the followup single tanked.
Great pop song, but a bit too slutty for her target audience. I remember all the furor over this, Jessica fansites closing down, old fans abandoning her completely. It was a silly move really, this really wasn't a genre she was all that comfortable with anyway, she's better at MOR light pop and AC friendly ballads than Britney-esque raunch. That lil bow wow remix was an absolute joke too. Jessica Simpson and hiphop do NOT go together.
A #11 hit in the UK. She hasn't charted here since though.

What a great song! I was so glad to hear new material from Jessica Simpson in 2001, but unfortunately the rest of the album didn't prove so great. The remix of the song though was bad!

This song sucked big time.
But if I remember right, she looked pretty hot in the video.

That lil bow wow remix was an absolute joke too. Jessica Simpson and hiphop do NOT go together. Oh, really. Well I beg to differ ;) The remix was off the hook as a matter of fact I'm going to play it NOW! The Lil Bow Wow mix is the only mix I have and will play. I do have to admit though they use that "Why You Treat Me So Bad" sample way too much. I.E. J.LO, Luniz. and P.Diddy...

06/07/01: "Irresistible" [#8] [11 wks]
It was good. I don't really listen to it voluntarily anymore though.

I think Irresistable & the Bow Wow remix are both good.

I LOVED IT! It was frequently #1 on my daily top 10 in Spring '01. It always switched off with Eve/Gwen Stefani, Lady Marmalade, and Willa Ford.
Great video too! I remember thinking how slutty she had turned, and how the lyrics were about her losing her virginity!

Probably my favorite song from her. There was more songs from the album I wanted to be released like "What's It Gonna Be"? & "I Never".

It's "Irresistible" with 3 i's - I always spelt it with an near the end as well until it was pointed out!
I liked it, a good pop song... but it never really sat well with me. It really showed what I knew all along... that Jessica was desperate to be successful and popular and she'd do anything to get it - well at least now she's got what she wanted!
I remember seeing an interview with her about the video and she said she basically starved herself for a few days before the video so she could look hot in it... and how she was so proud 'cos of how good she looked there.

I dug it. Catchy from start to finish. It was my summer of 2001 anthem.

My least favorite Jessica song... I'm glad it didn't hit #1.

I liked this song and the remix, though the remix video looks really cheap. The remix helped making the song do well on CHR/Rhythmic. I think it was Top 20 hit on CHR/Rhythmic, I doubt it would be possible if it wasn't for the remix.

Wow, the time before she became a media-whore. I really liked this when it was out. I'm not even entirely sure why, though. The only part I can remember is the chorus, but I think it was pretty catchy. I guess I assured myself that because it wasn't Britney Spears, it was OK to listen to. Now the two seem more one in the same than ever.
Now the only way I'd listen to this is in a situation where I couldn't change the station. I remember the only song I liked more was "I Wanna Love You Forever". I doubt I could listen to any of her stuff without wanting to change the station. Her stuff all seemed to go out the window now that she's become overexposed.
Oh, and the remix with Lil' Bow Wow and Jermaine Dupri was just weird. Probably the oddest remix collaboration of the year, if you ask me.

Probably her best song, and that's not saying much, because it's only listenable, not good. The only song that I've liked at any point was "Where You Are", which for some reason I actually liked. I think that had she not had a TV show or payola around, she'd've been done with after this song.
However, "I Think I'm In Love With You" and her new one tie as the greatest of her evils.
At least around this time, it was easier to ignore her. Now it's impossible.

'Newlyweds' was a hit when 'Sweetest Sin' tanked. 'With You' is a great pop song, and it's success is at least 50% down to that....

I always thought that there was absolutely nothing special about this. However, I'd much rather listen to it than songs like "I Think I'm In Love With You", "With You" and "Take My Breathe Away".

This is probably one of the most unremembered songs to peak at #2 by an established artist for a long time. This song disappeared even quicker than Lou Bega's Mambo #5 follow-up, ________ _________ (two of the same word).

Screechingly bad. This rivals "With You" for her worst.

Well, the song stinks, but I can't really think of anything she's done that's better. Maybe "Where You Are", but that'd be only because Nick is there to provide relief.

This is easily one of my favorites from her. I think she has a beautiful voice and love her ballads. But her faster songs are so much fun too. She is real pop, IMO.
