I love that "thunderous" percussion instrument that comes before the chorus.

Good song, but one of her most overrated. I'm guessing this would probably be somewhere between my 15th and 20th favourite from her.

I concur with those who said the Stereo MC's remix is great. I like the original, but it's a little too repetitive and drags on too long.

An amazing song and a great leadoff single to her last great album.

What was the R&R chart run for this?
Billboard said it debuted at #16 on the Top 40 Mainstream chart and then jumped to #10 in its second week.

One of her best. I was obsessed with this at the time... it still seems so ethereal and out of this world now and it felt ten times so when I was a child.

Great song. I would probably put this in my top 5 Madge singles.

this song was so fresh and original when it came out. There was nothing else like it, not even close.

I was mesmerized by this beautiful song. I remember how sad it is yet hopeful. I would play it over and over and mellow.

It's ok, but I never understood all the praise. It's fine, but nowhere near my favorite Madonna songs.

From another forum:
13 years ago this week on March 21, 1998, Madonna made her Top 10 debut on Billboard's Hot 100 with "Frozen".
Here is the top 10 for that week.
1. Gettin' Jiggy Wit It - Will Smith 2. Nice & Slow - Usher 3. My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion 4. No, No, No - Destiny's Child 5. Truly, Madly, Deeply - Savage Garden 6. What You Want - Mase featuring Total 7. Gone Till November - Wyclef Jean 8. NEW Frozen - Madonna 9. Together Again - Janet 10. Swing My Way - K.P & Envyi

Is there another thread on this? Surely it's been discussed at some point within the last few years. Disney should have licensed it for its movie of the same name. Still not in my top 10 or anything, but it is a strong track.

It's a great track, and it's so different than anything she's released. I can feel the hurt in her vocals when she sings this song. I love the hmmm parts and the instrumental. And the last 30 seconds of the song with no vocals is so haunting and sad.

Why so much hate towards American Life ? This album is criminally underrappreciated, and it was wayyyyyy better than Hard Candy or MDNA.
Btw about Frozen, it's one of her best songs. I think she's never reached the level of maturity of Ray of Light ever since tho. I don't know why she tries so hard to act young when the masterpieces that are Bedtime Stories and Ray of Light showed what she's truly capable of.
