I like it but itโs not a favorite of mine. The video is stunning though and an experience in itself.

One of Michael Jackson's greatest songs, mainly for the music video. I've seen many shows parody the music video from "Animaniacs" to "South Park". The song clearly influenced the intro of the 1984/85 season of "Scooby Doo". I always associate this song with Halloween yet this song was originally a single in DECEMBER 1983 and was a pop hit the following year! That kinda shocked me. I heard this song on the radio as an 80s flashback on 101.9 the Mix, WGCI, and the defunct 80s channel 103.1 WXXY when I was younger.
The best part of this song is listening to Vincent Price's scary, poetic-like vocals and his iconic evil laugh at the end. Recently, I heard this song on a 1984 episode of Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" and it was an edited version that doesn't feature Vincent Price at all! That song feels empty without him despite the brilliance of Jacko back in those days. It's better to listen to this song during October. While this song is brilliant, the best song from the "Thriller" album is "Billie Jean. So many classics from that LP.

"Thriller" was the seventh and final single from Michael Jackson's sixth studio album of the same name. Produced by Quincy Jones and written by Rod Temperton. 27 years ago today, "Thriller" peaked at No.4 on the Hot 100 and stayed there for two weeks. It also peaked at No.3 on the R&B chart. In the U.K., it went as high as No.10. Not bad at all for the 7th single released from the biggest selling album of all time.

It's undeniably a classic, but it's not a song I revisit on it's own a lot. It's so tied to the visual for me and also very tied to Halloween.
These days, I prefer the David Morales/Frankie Knuckles club mix. I spin that one way more than the album version.

Yeah I think that this might actually be my favorite Michael Jackson song instead of "Beat It", This is a timeless classic that was undeniably groundbreaking back in the 80s as was arguably a number of his songs during that decade. Everything about this song is awesome and my favorite lyric would have to be "Cause I can thrill you more, Than any ghoul could ever dare try". There is no Halloween song in my view that will ever be as defining for that season as this song has been, There is a reason why this song has become a regular Halloween staple.
The Music Video is also just as iconic and groundbreaking as the song itself!
