I was listening to this a couple days ago. It's okay.
I think my religion teacher played this song during our journal time last year as well.

UU-BRU Radio Playlist [red]For Week Ending April 16, 1988[/red] (Rank This Week, Last Week, Artist, Title) 01 02 Whitney Houston - Where Do Broken Hearts Go 02 04 Jody Watley - Some Kind Of Lover 03 03 Richard Marx - Endless Summer Nights 04 05 Dolly Parton & Smokey Robinson - I Know You By Heart 05 06 Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind 06 01 Debbie Gibson - Out Of The Blue 07 07 Brenda Russell & Joe Esposito - Piano In The Dark 08 08 Bruce Springsteen - One Step Up 09 13 John Cougar Mellencamp - Check It Out 10 12 Aerosmith - Angel #1 for 3 weeks (her 7th of 26 #1 singles to date) #2 song of 1988 www.keystonehighways.com/uubru1988.htmlI remember watching the 1988 AMA's knowing that Clive Davis had announced that Whitney would perform her new single at the show. I think the popular consensus was "Just The Lonely Talking Again". I was surprised that WDBHG was chosen because it seemed kinda bland at the time. Typical pop ballad for Whitney, nothing exceptional, but nice to listen to. I think more people will remember it as Whitney's seventh consecutive number one on the Hot 100 than for the song itself. :)

I love this song! It was played a lot on the radio during its prime, but I never got tired of it. I was sort of disappointed that the song only spent a single week at number one, but it spent enough time in the Top Five to rank way up in the teens on R&R's Top 88 of 1988.

I like Whitney but this wasn't one of her better hits.

Late-1980s Whitney is so soulless... I don't like this song, but it's still a far cry better than "Didn't We Almost Have It All."

The ballad hits from her second album were just okay. Her voice is the reason they're as good as they are. I do prefer this to "Didn't We Almost Have It All" though.

Decent, but not a real favorite. I prefer "Didn't We Almost Have It All".

Eh, nothing special. I'm glad these types of ballads went out of style.

Love this one. I know it isnโt a fan fave, but I love the melody and she sounds great on it (itโs not oversung like โDWAHIAโ).

Very under-rated. Should get more airplay/video views today!

I prefer "Didn't We Almost Have It All" to this one but it's okay. Since all those Whitney ballads were often on AC radio (Lite FM 93.9 and 100.3), I got burned out by them. I never heard them (or any of Whitney's 1985-1994 material) on urban radio despite appearing on the R&B charts.

This has really taken off (relatively) on YouTube the last 2 years. It used to do well to get 1 million views a year, but in 2020 it got nearly 12 million views and then in 2021 it got nearly 19 million views. Anyone know what helped it?
