I know Ev has a list of songs that only spent 1 week on the pop chart, but there have since been more that hit the top 40. Blind by Lifehouse is the only one that comes to mind, recently. Does anybody know any more?

Rick Dees had a song by Korn :) that spent a single week on his chart a couple years ago.

The Eurythmics spent one week on the Billboard's top 40 chart in 1989 with "Don't Ask Me Why". I also seem to recall Boy George and Go West having one-week songs in the latter part of the 80s. I stand corrected if I'm wrong.

From 1991, two one-week wonders from Billboard's Top 40 portion of The Hot 100.
R&B singer Keith Washington hit #40 for one week only with "Kissing You". It ended up being his lone Top 40 entry too.
Some weeks later, the Stereo MC's entered at #39 (if I'm not mistaken) with "Elevate My Mind". It might have been a one-week wonder, but it was one that became a milestone, for they became the first non-American hip-hop act to chart on Billboard's Top 40.

I stand corrected if I'm wrong. Boy George did have a one-week wonder ("Live My Life"), in February, 1988. "Don't Look Down" by Go West, however, had a two-week run in September, 1987. Its run was 40-39-off. Another one-week wonder from the late 80s was "Promise Me" by the Cover Girls, in May, 1988. I believe its lone week was at #40.

Also from 1991, and also from The Billboard Hot 100: Celine Dion's "If There Was Any Other Way", which came at #35 in one week and went the way of the Dodo the next for good.

On Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, Tatyana Ali's "Daydreamin'" managed a sole week at #40. On The Billboard Hot 100, though, it peaked at #6 and went Gold.

I believe Shania Twain's "You've Got A Way" was a one-week wonder on the "old" R&R CHR/Pop chart, but I could be wrong.

1991 was quite a year for one-week wonders on The Billboard Hot 100! Desmond Child (yes, that one!) managed to spend a single week at #40 with his lone solo Top 40 hit, "Love On A Rooftop".

Limp Bizkit's "My Way" came at #40 one week and went out the next in 2001 on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 chart.

These songs spent 1 week on Ryan Seacrest's AT40: "Not in Love" by Enrique Iglasis and Kelis "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw "King Without a Crown" by Mathushiu (not sure I spelled the name correctly) "Suddenly I See" by K.T. Tunstall "I'm a Flirt" by T-Pain and R. Kelly (I think?)

There was also "Stay (Faraway, So Close)" by U2, that spent a single week on the R&R chart in early 1994, just weeks before the PPW era started. In fact, the very week before that, "Born To Roll" by Masta Ace Incorporated debuted at number 40, and fell off the next week never to return again. Had the chart remained as it was, I have a feeling the song would have stayed on the chart for just another week or two and then fallen off, like several songs in the late summer/early fall of 1993.

Herv may know this one: Boy Meets Girl had a song to peak at #39 on Billboard in 1985. I can't think of the name of the song for the life of me (I want to say it was called "Oh Girl" but I'm not sure), but I remember Casey Kasem made reference to it when they debuted in the top 40 with "Waiting For A Star To Fall". I was wondering if that song was a one-week wonder.

On the R&R chart in 1988, Merry Clayton's "Yes" - the 4th single from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack - spent a week on the chart at #40.
It peaked at #43 on the Hot 100.

Kenny G in 2000. It was that New Year's song that went on for something like 7 minutes. Gag.

These songs spent 1 week on the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 chart but never made the Top 40 of the real R&R CHR/Pop chart since Rick used them either as substitute songs for rap songs or old songs or whatnot besides Korn's "Word Up": "Love This Way" by Eden's Crush "New York, New York" by Ryan Adams "World of Our Own" by Westlife

"Flex" by Mad Cobra "These Are Days" by 10,000 Maniacs "Tell The Truth" by Jude Cole "Cannonball" by The Breeders "Girls and Boys" by Blur "At Your Best (You Are Loved)" by Aalyiah "Spin the Bottle" by The Julia Hatfield 3

And on the final week of Casey Kasem hosting American Top 40 in January 2004, "Who Will I Run To" by Kiley Dean debuted at #38 (the last week of AT40 using R&R before using its own no recurrent rule chart for the Ryan Seacrest takeover) and then was never heard on AT40 again!

It was a pretty good song.
