This was actually their second chart single in the U.S.; the first was "Johnny Come Home", which landed at about the same time as Synch's "Where Are You Now?" did in the Spring of '86, and fared about as well as that originally did (#76). For a time, I liked this and "Good Thing" about equally, but now I think this has pulled back ahead. I remember seeing this clip on Nickelodeon as a kid:

Love it too! One of the best 80s pop songs of all-time. Often heard this as 80s gold on 101.9 the Mix, Lite FM 93.9, 100.3, and the defunct-80s channel 103.1 WXXY when I was younger. I also remember watching a parody video of this song featuring the Muppets on Nickelodeon. Muppets (Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy) - She Drives Me Crazy www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3OAwwbzuUA

32 years ago today, Fine Young Cannibals landed its first No.1 hit as "She Drives Me Crazy" topped the Hot 100 Singles chart for one week. It also topped the Hot Dance - Club Play chart for 2 weeks. It was the first release from their second and last album "The Raw and The Cooked." "She Drives Me Crazy" received a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year but lost to "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler - I would have given it to Don Henley for "The End of The Innocence." The song peaked at No. 5 on the British singles chart in their native U.K. - It remains one of my favourite songs from 1989.
