This is one of the more forgotten Motown classics, but it's very hard to understand why. Although the song starts out sounding kinda mundane and Brenda sounds like an average background singer, it's only a moment before she starts belting out lines like the best soul singers. It's a beautiful performance of an affecting love song. Here's a lip-sync'd clip from the same program that featured the Marvin Gaye song I posted about last week. I guess maybe it's American Bandstand, or something very much like it.

Awesome pick.
My favorite (from my very limited Brenda Holloway knowledge) of her songs is "When I'm Gone." That one is painfully underrated, but such an awesome song.

Brenda Holloway, like Kim Weston, is one of the forgotten female vocalists from the 1960's Motown period. However, she had some truly ace singles, and this is one of them.

Good song. It's been covered many times.
