I'm listening to this song right now as we speak, on the 2/14/87 edition of AT40 Flashback (the first three-hour show!) and I forgot how great this song sounds. I think it's even better than the original version by the King from 1962, which is a good version, too. Peaked at #24 on Billboard, but couldn't manage to push past 33 on R&R. Guess more people wanted to buy it at the store rather than hear it on the radio!
I must have missed that, because I didn't hear the King's version until August of that year, when it was featured as a Long Distance Dedication on AT40 and I was surprised at how mellow it sounded (since I associated Elvis more with upbeat songs than ballads). I thought his original version of "Can't Help Falling In Love" sounded almost like an old Christmas song.
