I like the song, mainly for the sample.

I LOVED this back in the day and still love it now. I really liked Ashanti when she first came out. I started losing interest in her once that "Only You" thing came out

Absolutely terrible. One of the worst #1's ever IMO. The played out sample, weak lyrics, weak vocals. I was completely mystified that this was so big.

Classic R&B song. The lyrics speak so well to anyone who's going through a tough relationship that needs to end.
Her peak was so undeniably huge. Always On Time, What's Luv, Foolish, Mesmerize, Rock With U - 5 top 2 singles in the span of a year.

Such a big song, I’m shocked she disappeared so soon especially after a string of huge hits.

LEGENDARY DEBUT SINGLE. I also love "Happy" more but this song is undeniably catchy.

Didn't like this song when it came out. Often heard it on WGCI, Power 92 (WPWX), and B96 in my market. The producers of this song were probably thinking "Let's use a song that is still familiar with urban/rhythmic radio listeners (Notorious BIG's "One More Chance (remix)", which was still played as 90s gold at that point) and use it as a base for a new hit!" The remix "Unfoolish" was total cringe as urban/rhythmic radio couldn't seem to let go of Notorious B.I.G. Same with 2pac (If they were still alive, this wouldn't be an issue).
For the record, the song sampled by both Notorious BIG and Ashanti is called "Stay With Me" by Debarge.

The defunct KKBT, KJLH and Power 106 played this song to death in 2002.

This song was so overplayed, ugh. It was still a little nice song, I just expected much more from her. I didn't get all the hype surrounding this song and her debut album.

Both Power 106 and Real 92.3 currently play this song as one of their mainstay throwbacks.

Both Real and Power often play plenty of throwbacks from the 90s and 2000s, which is what makes the stations worth listening. Power 106 even has a "Rewind at 9" in the morning where, during the 9 o'clock hour, they play throwbacks. I wish they'd bring back the non-stop mixing they used to do every weekend and the "12 Days of Mixmas" would be nice too.

Power 106 needs to go back to playing throwbacks and keep the station balanced. I was only 8 years old when “Foolish” was released . It’s still great song after 20 years.

I remember the old school mix at Noon, along with the Aquanet set that played 80s and 90s Freestyle and Electro. As much as I'd like to hear throwbacks on Power 106, I guess, with Power being under the same company as KDAY, they don't want the two stations sounding alike and risk losing their younger audience. I was born in October 1992 and was 9 when "Foolish" came out, so I'm not much older than you. I agree with you on it being a great song, along with "Happy", "Baby", "Rock Wit U (Aww Baby), and "Rain On Me". It's crazy how the late '90s/early 2000s music of our childhood is now in the place that 70s and 80s music was in back then.

I was still 8 years old and remember seeing the video on B.E.T. when I would watch 106 & Park was worth watching. I noticed that a lot of Urban AC’s have been playing 90’s and 2000’s R&B/Hip Hop hits over the last decade. I’m going to be 29 in September and I wish I can go back to the early 2000’s. Hell it was even popular that I used to hear on 102.3 KJLH and Hot 92 Jamz (when it was playing 90’s & current R&B).

FM radio was so much fun back then, when each station had shows that played music outside their regular format. What's missing on radio today is that uniqueness that KIIS, KPWR, KKBT, and KJLH had back in the day.

I look up the song list for KKBT, KJLH and Power 106 so I know what you are talking about. Los Angeles radio had more variety than it does now. 92.3 The Beat was a unique urban contemporary that appealed all demographics back in the 90’s. I listen to nothing but mainly the 90’s to 2000’s so my age must be creeping up on me 😂. Did you know in 1994-95 that 92.3 The Beat played Anita Baker’s 1994 hits “Body & Soul” and I Apologize” in rotation. Damn I wish I was a teen in the mid 90’s to early 2000’s when R&B/Urban radio was actually good.
