1998 cover of Gordon Lightfoot's If You Could Read My Mind, performed by Jocelyn, Amber, and Ultra Nate. Loved this song. It was featured in the movie 54.

Love the song, love the video. Ultra Nate delivered the best vocal performance, IMO.

I can appreciate it now but when it was on, it was seriously annoying.

The song is OK, but it does not do justice to the original, which I used to listen to a lot when I was real little, since my Mom listened to Gordon Lightfoot a lot back then.

Yes, he did. I forget which song he skipped over in order to play it, though.

Thsi song was played pretty much in high rotation for five years here. Needless to say I can't stand this song.

This song was such a worldwide smash, i remember everyone loved it back in 98. I was like 13 lol
But the original by gordon lightfoot is so much more amazing and has the proper lyrics

The Gordon Lightfoot's version has the ORIGINAL lyrics, but I would never say that it has the "proper" lyrics. That statement indicates that the Stars On 54 version has the lyrics all wrong, which is not the case. Old song get a lyrics update all the time, that's nothing new. Boy George's "Everything I Own", and The Bangles' "Hazy Shade Of Winter" are perfect examples. For me, Gordon's version is a total snorefest. Booooooooooring, as Homer would say. Stars On 54's rendition is brilliant. Hard to believe it's the same song. Smashing!

I hear ya. I liked it when it first came out but it was nothing special. I got sick of it and I still hear it from time to time when I occasionally listen to the radio.

Really love this song! Amber and Ultra were performing at the same show and they did a mini Stars on 54 reunion for the fans. It was the first time in nearly 7 years they had performed the song live together.

Could have been a Top 40 hit.
Stars on 54 was not related to Stars on 45.

There's just something special about this. One of my all time favorites.
EDIT: Funny, I was just listening to this yesterday.

I still hear this on the radio rather frequently. Great song, but a bit overrated in my opinion.

Just heard this randomly for the first time in many years! I just got a flashback to my childhood...
I remember the music video for this getting played a lot when I was a kid and how I loved it because of the scenes from 54 with Ryan Phillippe (whom I had a huge crush on)... actually, 54 (both versions) still is such a guilty pleasure lol

The Berman Brothers did the production on the original version. Hex Hector and Steve "Silk" Hurley were commissioned to do the remixes. Original Hex Hector Remix Steve "Silk" Hurley Remix
This is an instance where the remake was so much better than the original and revitalized the track so well. I am a huge fan of Amber, Jocelyn, and Ultra and they just meshed so well on this. It felt very organic and natural. I like the original version even though the remixes are good. The original is just so well done. Ryan Phillippe (whom I had a huge crush on)... actually, 54 (both versions) still is such a guilty pleasure lol Ryan was soooo gorgeous in that movie. His face and hair looked so angelic but then he had a body made for sin. Innocence and mayhem. The 'director's cut' version of that movie is basically a different movie as it's so drastically different and just works better.

Good 90s dance track. I heard this on one of those 90s dance internet stations that I used to listen to from way back. On FM radio, this song also got some airplay on B96 although it didn't show up on their reported playlists on Radio & Records magazine.
