Do you remember the 1988 remake of Swinging Blue Jeans' "Hippy Hippy Shake" by Georgia Satillites which missed hitting the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 peeking at #45?

Boring remake. Their best song is definitely "Battleship Chains."

But the Georgia Satillites only Top 40 hit was "Keep Your Hands to Yourself".

Darryl, I'm surprised that you didn't mention that both "Battleship Chains" and "Hippy Hippy Shake" hit the WLS Chicago Top 30 chart (actually, in early 1987, when "Battleship Chains" charted, the chart was still a Top 40).
As for this song, I thought it was OK, but nothing special. I'm not much for remakes of party hits from the 50s and 60s. This song, however, might hold the record for the song with the shortest playing time to make the upper half of the Billboard chart in the 1980s (a very worthless record, I know!), as the song clocks in at 1:45.
