This is probably one of the first songs I ever really liked, way back from 1987. I remember taping it off the radio and listening to it all the time but then somebody decided to tape over it which of course made me really mad. It took my about 10 years (OK didn't look really hard) to eventually find it on a used CD.

I used to be crazy about this song. Definitely one of the highlights of 1987.

Great jam... pity they didn't have any more pop success. :(

I saw them at the Ritz in New York in the early 80s when "You Are In My System" was on its way to becoming a sizable urban hit. Mic Murphy was a great vocalist and I think the keyboard wiz was named David Franks. Good show for an unknown act too, except that they played "...System" for about 20 minutes. This was a super song too. They had a really good poppy track before this called "I Just Wanna Make You Feel Good," that really flopped everywhere except my personal chart. And another song by them that I really liked, "The Pleasure Seekers," was a pretty big Urban hit as well.
IIRC, they were really big producers in the 80s. They were besides Jam and Lewis, another reason why I first got into putting together a little recording studio in the mid 80s, but unfortunately didn't have the resources to expand it much. I think they were also responsible for Pauli Carmen's dynamite mid 80s song "Dial My Number."

The chorus is really catchy even though it sounds like Nintendo music or something.
I like "You're In My System" a lot too.

I like Victoria Beckham's "This Groove." Is it the same song?

I like Victoria Beckham's "This Groove." Is it the same song? She sampled it pretty heavily.

It's so/so, but I prefer the follow-up "Nighttime Lover", which only charted at urban. That song sounded a lot like "Taking It To The Streets" by the Doobies, in the verses.

JAM!
BTW, David Frank of The System co-wrote this and also co-wrote "Genie in a Bottle."

When I think of 'NOSTALGIA', I think of this song.
One of my absolutely favorite songs from the 80's. I actually quite enjoy Victoria's version as well. But the original lead singers voice was so much better.
'Hang a sign upon the door....'

Totally a jam, never will grow tired for me. Same here. The first time I heard this song was when I was 18, haven't stopped listening since then! Still one of my all time favorite ever!! I just love how totally laidback and relaxed it is.

One of the all-time best 80s R&B slow jams. I also liked "You Are in My System". Not sure which song I prefer when it comes to this act.
