I believe this was the first Top 40 hit for Milli Vanilli. Not as good as "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You."

The first of 5 Top 40 hits for Milli Vanilli before the late 1990 loss of their Best New Artist Grammy Award.

It's too bad this act turned out to be a fake. I liked this song, as well as most of the songs on that album in 1988-'89.

I loved this song so much back in '89. I remember having a crush on Fabrice and his fine self.

This actually reached #2 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart in the earliest weeks of that chart (began March 11, 1989). Its being on the chart at all would be the subject of a Letter to the Editor (March 25), which in turn drew a response from Billboard's then-Black chart manager (their classification, not mine) Terri Rossi, who explained that it arose out of record stores choosing to report the song as a rap single. It also reached #3 on the overall R&B (Black Singles) chart, but that is a whole other matter.

They may have been reduced to a punchline and a footnote in musical history, but they had some jams. I can listen to their first four hits with no shame.

My favorite is "Blame It on the Rain," but I like this one a lot, as well as "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You."

HORRIBLE!! One of the worst songs of the 1980s. Annoying chorus and this depended too much on the "Ashley's Roachclip" break (as heard in many other and BETTER songs, such as Eric B and Rakim's "Paid in Full", PM Dawn's "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss, and Duran Duran's "Come Undone"). How were these guys so hot in a year with 5 hit records and reduced to a joke the following year? I assumed that these guys were unofficially banned on US radio stations after the lip-sync scandal in 1990. I was too young to remember them at their peak (was a toddler in 89) and had never heard any of their songs on the radio (not even as gold titles).
When I was younger, I did watch Milli Vanilli episode of "Behind the Music" on VH-1, back when that channel was worth watching before it decayed into pop culture madness and again into BET 2. While Rob and Fab were victims of the manipulative music industry, it doesn't change the fact that this song SUCKS!

Milli Vanilli's music is still as catchy and fun as when it came out. I love this one but my favourite remains "Blame It on the Rain."

I heard this on the 80s flashback countdown over the weekend. The mixing on the track jumped out to me in that some of the vocal parts were drowned out by the production. The chorus still hits, though.
