Huge hit for him in 1985, #1 on Hot 100 for 4 weeks & #1 on CHR/Pop for 4 weeks...
Good piano ballad :)

Excellent song by one of the classic 70s/80s popstars. One of his best.

great song. i love how it picks up in the middle of the song. That's the same reason I like it too. Otherwise, it's an average song.

This is probably my favorite Lionel Richie song. It won an Oscar too.

This is probably my favorite Lionel Richie song. It won an Oscar too. I had forgotten about that. It was on the soundtrack for "White Knights", which starred Gregory Hines and Mikhail Baryshnikov (sp?).

One of my least favorite songs by one of my favorite artists. Still a pretty decent song.

Lionel Ritchie was past his creative peak by this time. The song is okay, but I never much liked him or the Commodores after he went solo.

Thanks for the link. I love this song, though I didn't like it when it was popular (since they played the song twenty times a day!)

You're right about this, but I did like his early solo stuff, especially his second album, Can't Slow Down. Lionel Richie and the Commodores were at their best when they were together. In the early going, no one member stood out, and they all wrote songs. My favorite albums were: Caught in the Act, Movin' On, and Commodores. I've often ranked "Zoom" from this last album as my favorite song of all-time.

I don't like this song as much as his other stuff from around the same time period. I still say "Hello" is his best solo single.

I didn't care for this one. "You Are", "Truly", or "My Love" were my favorite solo hits by him, but his true classics were with the Commodores.
"Jesus Is Love" is probably my absolute favorite.

I still say "Hello" is his best solo single. Whoever directed this video should be shot; a blind woman who sculpts a bust of Richie, as he walks around a mansion singing "hello... is it me your looking for?" lol just too funny.

Not too crazy over this one as I prefer "You Are" "Endless Love" w/Diana Ross and his all-time best solo song "All Night Long" over it. That said, this song is not as cheesy as "Dancing on the Ceiling" so it has that going for it.
