I heard this on the radio today and remembered how great this song is. Definitely my favorite by 3EB, and one of the better pop/rock songs of the last five years.

This song is not bad, but Third Eye Blind certainly have a handful of much better tracks than this also.
Actually (though most of their songs are quality) I probably rank this in the worser half of their best/worst songs list.
The last three tracks off their self-titled album ("In The Background", "Motorcycle Drive-By", "God Of Wine"), "Wounded", "The Red Summer Sun" and "Darkness" from "Blue", and "Palm Reader" from "Out Of The Vein" all blow this hit single away.
Still, I'd give this track a B. It is bouncy and the perfect summertime anthem. Who hasn't fallen in love and it feels like a sunburn you just want to save?
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I really enjoyed this song. Casey played it earlier this year on AT20. It has an 80s feel to it. :)

I like the song, but Semi-Charmed Life is still my favorite from 3EB.

I love it, though there are definitely other 3EB songs that I prefer, especially from their first CD.

They played at Yale's Spring Fling so I had to go watch them (It was free.)
Great song!

It's OK, but a little too sugary for my liking.

They've had better singles but this is still fairly decent and catchy. It's one of those songs you wanna blast up when you're at the beach or relaxing outside in summer weather. I don't like the way Jenkins sings the chrous though.

By all rights this should have been massive, but 3 years later radio was still playing "Semi-Charmed Life" as a regular recurrent, and it still killed it!

I have the song but I regret ever getting it int he first place because this is so mediocre. This is one of their worst songs really.

This actually is my favorite song of theirs... the week of April 2 thru April 8, 2000, it got to #1 on my chart.... right after Lonestar's "Amazed" and right before Vertical Horizon's "Everything You Want"... not many songs that get to #1 on my charts only spend a week there...

I like the song, but Semi-Charmed Life is still my favorite from 3EB. I'll add, too, that the best part of the song is actually at the end ("I remember the stupid things, the mood rings...")

I loved LOVEd this song when it first came out. #1 smash for me. I still like it now but time hasn't done it too well, nor the rest of their songs. The only one of theirs I'll still listen to is 'Jumper'.

Always been a big fan of this band. Shame they don't release new material more often

Good guitar riffs in this song, making it a good tune for rock fans, but catchy enough for pop as well. I really liked it when it was released in 2000 - #1 on my personal chart.
The Hot AC station I listen to sometimes plays it as a '90s track - can't figure that one out.
Only confusing part of the song is the lyric, "Good idea, break a promise to your mother". Not sure of its meaning - or if there even IS a meaning.
