Beautiful, but depressing, song. Absolutely amazing lyrics.
I agree that Tracy has the saddest voice I have ever heard. Even when the song is meant to be quirky and humorous ( such as"Give Me One Reason") her voice still sounds somewhat melancholy.
My favorite Tracy song is "Moutains of Things", which my mother used to play all the time when I was a little girl. She said the first time she heard that song it make her cry. I also love "Talkin' About A Reveolution" just as much, as I believe truer words are not often spoken.

I have always loved this song. It's very relaxing to listen to and unwind after a long day.

Easily one of the best songs ever written. Tracy Chapman wrote herself a legacy when she created this piece.

So timeless and the lyrics are just so well written. There is a honesty to this that always reels me in for some reason.

Very touching and well-written song about the cycle of poverty and abuse. It almost brought me to tears the first few times I heard it. Once I really paid attention to the lyrics, it was like this for me. Although the repetition of the "be someone" lyric used to kind of get to me years ago.

One of the best 80s songs yet it doesn't sound like a typical 80s track as it could pass as a 90s Hot AC-type track. Heard this during 101.9 the Mix's "80s at 8pm" hour when I was younger. Music video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIOAlaACuv4

Love how the Grammy's not only put this to the top of iTunes, but also 'Give Me One Reason'
