One of her best singles period. A 90's classic.

This is still a classic. I love both the original and Bad Boy remix. The latter version brings back some childhood memories since I heard it so often. The video(s) looked very fun and hip.

I love the original version, although I'm not a fan of the O.D.B. remix. It scared me when I was a child. lol

The re-mix was the hottest. His addition took the track someplace else, and catapulted her music into another stratosphere. As if that were possible.

The Bad Boy with ODB mix ranked #3 on Slant's The 10 Greatest Mariah Carey Remixes.

Original should have been on #1's, one of her best!

My second favorite single of hers after 'Dreamlover.' It's perfect.

Fantastic single and just a killer pop song. I love both the original and remix, but I give the former a slight edge because it sounds so epic. The remix was such a defining moment in pop music though! Mariah teaming-up with ODB back in 1995 is the reason we have Katy putting out "California Gurls" feat. Snoop Dogg today, same for Ariana putting out "The Way" feat. whatshisface, Rihanna getting Drake to guest on "What's My Name" and so on. Mariah is the most influential female artist of all time in mainstream music, point blank. PERIOD.

The remix is justifiably praised, but it makes me sad the original gets lost in the shuffle a bit. The original is great on so many levels. For one the production is top-notch. It's fun and buoyant, but it also had an edge that makes it a Jeep anthem. On top of that the melody is killer, and Mariah going into "Genius of Love" on the bridge is sublime. I love that epic intro, too.
I remember when this first hit and was everywhere. I remember reading it sold 229k the first week, which was huge then. We then knew it would debut at #1.
I wonder if it could, have gotten a 9th week at #1 if the single hadn't been deleted.

I prefer the original because the hook just punches harder for me and brings the energy up to another level. The remix is perfect BBQ chill mode tho.

I will always prefer the original. I am hoping she does the original on her vegas stint.

I will always prefer the original. I am hoping she does the original on her vegas stint. No chance in hell she's doing the original. While I'm almost 50/50 with both versions (grew up on the ODB version exclusively) as far as preference I'm hoping she does perform it at one point. I still laugh at myself when I bought the album and heard the pop version for the first time and wondered what the hell they did with ODB. lol

We all know the remix is a classic and iconic and influential and all of that, but I still think the original owns all versions.
That intro is sort of iconic and it immediately makes me think of the amusement park in the video and a fun time in general. The pop/urban production that then kicks in is truly classic. It was a melding of genres that sounded fresh then and still does to this day. The melody on "Fantasy" is great, particularly the verses, and of course the chorus is super catchy. I also love how she uses part of "Genius of Love" as the bridge and sings it like a fan.
I remember when "Fantasy" dropped. I was actually on a Mariah board then; these kings of things were relatively new, but we were waiting to see if it would sell enough to debut at #1. The single of course sold way more than enough to be #1. It was huge.

Best 90s single from Mariah, hands down. It's such a happy song that lifts your mood anytime you listen to it, the verses are so catchy, and the chorus is even catchier!
And I loved the video, she did a great job!

It's a nice dance track, but has become a bit overrated over the years. I much prefer Emotions.

Iconic song! I personally prefer One Sweet Day but that doesn't affect my thoughts on this.

The album version has over 99 million streams on Spotify, so it will pass 100 million by next weekend. It will be Mariah's 7th song (and fourth from the 90s) to cross that mark.
