Great song. I couldn't get enough of this when I first heard it. Arguably, one of the best ballads she's ever recorded.
Your thoughts?

"Rhythm Nation" is one of the most solid pop albums of all times as evidenced by it's incredible chart record. This time period was really the high point in quiet storm ballads for Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and they definitely gave Janet three amazing ones for her "Rhythm Nation" album. I definitely prefer the ballad that preceded "Come Back To Me" on the album though, "Lonely". That one is my favorite Janet song of all time.

"Let's Wait Awhile" is my favorite ballad by Janet. But "Come Back To Me" is also a GREAT song. Brings back a lot of memories. I still think RHYTHM NATION 1814 is still the best album she has put out.

"Let's Wait Awhile" is my favorite ballad by Janet. But "Come Back To Me" is also a GREAT song. Brings back a lot of memories. Brings back a lot of memories for me too. Since I don't hear it very often, it reminds me of when I started college. There was a version of the song, which I usually heard on A/C stations when it was #1 on the charts, it starts out with Janet humming the chorus ("All my life I've waited...) The few times I hear the song, however, that version is not played anymore. Of course, now that I've said that, we'll probably hear it on AT10 in the near future (which would be a good thing; don't get me wrong!)

Love it! I love that Janet can pull of ballads so well despite her limited range and power.... she just conveys emotion and sells a song so well, whether it's upbeat of a ballad.
I always think of this song and "Let's Wait Awhile" together... and I prefer LWA.

Amazing song. Its so smoothe and silky. Jimmy and Terrys ballads have sucked as of late.

Really great song, although the summer that it came out, I was in Chicago and it was way overplayed. I'd love to hear it, though.

Uh oh... I think I might be ruining the love parade. This song makes me a little drowsy. It's never really been a favorite of mine.

It went to #1 on the AC chart. On the US Music Survey, Mark Wallengren mentioned it moved up and down the chart very quickly.

This has such a great melody. Kind of hypnotic... Though, undoubtedly, my favorite JJ slow jams are "Any Time, Any Place" and "Funny How Time Flies" (which actually sound kinda similar to one another)

This is a nice Janet ballad, but my favorites from her are "Again" and "I Get Lonely". Still, very nice.

The few times I hear the song, however, that version is not played anymore. Yeah, I know exactly what "version" talking about. I'm surprised it is not even on any of her collections. The mix you're referring to is the "LP Version" which has little flavour in my honest opinion. Even one of the most popular "elevator" music providers Muzak stopped playing the LP mix and went on to the more classy single version. The name of the single version is "Beggin' You" mix. The radio edit I believe is 4:47 in length.

For the longest time, I thought this was one of her lesser singles. Over time though, it has grown on me immensely, and now I think it's one of her best. It's a beautiful ballad.

I know I've probably told this one a million times.
But literally, every time some shit in the bathroom floor at my old work, this song came on. and I loved it before, I still like it now, but the image of an enormous smearing of errant feces on a women's room stall wall fills my brain when I hear it.

Often my favorite thing about one of the greatest pop albums you'll ever come across. The four ballads found on RN1814 are untouchable.
