I'm not a huge Whitney fan. I like her voice but she doesn't really interest me so I can't sit through her ballads and tend to prefer her uptempos. So this is one of my favourites by her. The lyrics are clever, I love the unique instrumentation and like has been mentioned there are some great remixes.
It's interesting how much the remixes elevated this. The album version is really unremarkable but Thunderpuss' remix is a club classic. The whole remix package is really incredible and her best collection of remixes for a single.
This always felt like the real Whitney to me. So sassy.
This might very well be my favorite Whitney song. Of course, the Thunderpuss remix, since I found the original pretty bland. I remember jamming to this song every time its video aired on TV here in Brazil, in the late 90's.
As much as I love the remix, which still slays in the club, the original album version will always be tops for me. Some of my favorite production EVER on a song. Rodney Jerkins really turned it out, his instrumental is just so fresh and I love that he lets the beat ride out well after the song should be over.
I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm.. so... scared.

I already commented on the Thunderpuss remix (which has its own thread). The original version may had been Whitney's last truly great song. Often heard the original version on WGCI, V103, and probably B96 as the latter was phasing out dance-based hits although the Thunderpuss remix would be heard on their lunch party/traffic jam mix hours. Not sure if the AC stations (Lite FM 93.9 and 100.3 in my market) played it as Whitney's late 90s material was more urban-friendly compared to her earlier material.
China, Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, and other countries continue to laugh at the USA.
