YSHHSTAY was a change of pace for Melissa Manchester. She was long associated with MOR ballads like "Midnight Blue" and ''Don't Cry Out Loud". Don't forget "Fire In The Morning"!

Wow, that chart was from the same week as the April 1980 AT40 Flashback. There are two songs that were below the starting point on that show, but even they were mentioned, as Casey was talking about "hot" songs to tie in with Kool & The Gang's "Too Hot".

I have it on a Rhino Comp: Radio Daze: Pop Hits of the 80's - Volume 2 I've got that CD too... along with Volumes 3, 4, and 5. I never got Volume 1, and unfortunately that series is out of print now. :(

That tune was Mellisa's biggest hit slowly climbing to #5 in Sep 1982 but it also her last top 40 hit.

Good song, her Mathematics album from '85 is criminally underrated though.

It's a shame she never performs this song live anymore. I saw her live a few years back and did a great cross section of hits and album cuts I never imagined I'd get to hear live (Caravan, Boys In the Back Room) where I got to ask her in a round about way why she doesnt sing it since its technically her biggest hit. (I didnt want to piss her off or seem like some crazy dissatisfied fan who didnt get everything he wanted) She said she considers this and some of the other pop oriented singles of that time of her career (Nice Girls, Pretty Girls, No One Can Love You More Than Me) fine for their time but not indicative of her overall body of work as a performer and certainly not where shes at creatively now so she's dropped them.

Didn't know this song existed until I started listening to various 70s/80s AT40 with Casey Kasem shows on Mixcloud. I like it.
