They had so many good songs, but this is one of my favorites. (Some of you may remember that this song served as the theme for the TV show "China Beach.") It sounds very different from many of the other Motown productions of that time... Very mellow, slightly psychedelic... an all around great record.
Surprisingly, this was not one of the group's twelve #1 hits.

One of my favorites by them (I used to watch the opening credits of "China Beach" just to hear this song ).

One of the last Supremes hits written by Holland-Dozier-Holland, 3 of the greatest songwriters in rock n roll.

One of the last Supremes hits written by Holland-Dozier-Holland, 3 of the greatest songwriters in rock n roll. HDH were every bit as prolific as the Beatles, IMO. If you count all the hits they made for Marvin Gaye, the Supremes, the Temptations, Martha Reeves, etc.... it's staggering. After they left, the Supremes began to struggle, as did the whole of Motown.

Not just in your opinion, the statement is true. They were in fact considerably more prolific. HDH were, probably more than anyone else, responsible for what we now call the Motown sound. This particular record by the Supremes is not one of my favorites, but it's not bad. I do like it, but there are several others I like more.

It's my favourite from Diane and the Supremes. They had other great singles, but this one is on a whole other level.

I like it.
This was their first hit under the name change, as well as their first with Cindy Birdsong, who replaced Florence Ballard.

Even if this hadn't been the theme song from China Beach, this would be an incredible song. Love it. The China Beach connection just makes it even more special...
