I found a few topics for them, but surprisingly not for this song, their biggest hit.
I watched the video for it at singingfool.com yesterday.
This was a huge hit back in 1992. I loved it!

WHINE, WHINE, WHINE!!!
I didn't like this song because they whined the whole thing (well, except the bridge, the only part of the song that isn't annoying).
Of course, I'd rather hear this song than other piles of crap ("Lean Back" comes to mind).

Excellent, but there's loads of Shakespear's sister songs i prefer. My favourite is "Hello (Turn Your Radio On)". Their "Hormonally Yours" album is a solid CD, reccomended.

I like this song. I could swear that there's already a thread on it, but I can't make the search work. It'll work on any other message board, but not this one.

I could have sworn I posted in a topic about this song. I barely remembered it until I heard it on XM one day. Now I'll never get it out of my head.
I have to say that this is one of the oddest top 10 hits ever. It just doesn't seem like a song that people would like. I like it though.

Stay reached #4 on the Hot 100 for the duo which consisted of a former 1/3 of Bananarama and Eric Clapton's one-time backup singer.

Good, but "I Don't Care" was better.

Great choice, the video was absolutely good. And the song is heartbreaking...

Stay got to #4 on the Hot 100 for the British-American duo who did release one album before they hit big with that song but split after the the tune was a huge hit in the US

This song is gorgeous. Great vocal performance. I agree, although what really makes it worthwhile for me is Fahey's interlude.

One of the best vocal performances on a pop hit in the past 20 years. Heartfelt and moving.
I love the Andre Betts remix as well. It gives it more of a midtempo hip-hop/reggae vibe, but it maintains the melancholiness.

This is all about the bridge, one of my favorites. I still hear this every now and then, one of the more unique hits of the early 90s.

One of the best bridges in pop music.
#1 for a whopping 8 weeks in the UK.

This was an immediate gem to me! It mainly flopped back home in Peru where the two rock radios didn't really give much support. I heard it in a UK show that in 30 minutes summarized their top 40 -was transmitted in one of our two rock radio stations - and I loved it from the first time I heard it. One of those unique cases when a song haunted me from its first mysterious notes, through its verses (heartfelt and purely sang) to its simple (but poignant) chorus, an impeccable bridge (which transformed the vibe of the song) to a last minute where hell broke loose :) It was the first time in many years that a song flew in my personal chart and got to #1 in barely 3 weeks and stayed there for a month -the longest since We are the world. One of my top 5 songs of the decade!
