I think When I Come Around was the first Green Day song I ever heard. I also consider it to be my favorite Green Day song.
I even heard it on on an AC station: WJDX-FM.

I absolutely love this song---Green Day have to be one of my favorite bands. This and "Basket Case" are my favorite tracks by the band. I still often listen to their Dookie CD, which I bought in fifth grade and still can't get enough of; you gotta love Armstrong's vocals and the guitar work.
These guys were the sound of punk for the '90s. There would be no Blink (another great band) or any of their clones were it not for Green Day.

I love this song. My mom used to play the "Dookie" album all the time when it first came out. I got kind of sick of a lot of the songs, but I never got sick of "When I Come Around".

It's a good song. The guitar riff is classic. They've had much better songs than this though

I was big on this song when it first came out. I'm not as big on it now due to overplayment.

"Dookie" is in fact one of the greatest albums i have the fortune of owning... not one track from this album can be considered filler, or weak... "When I Come Around" is probably the strongest track from the album

"Good Riddance" is my fav Green Day tune. But I love this song almost as much. I am a huge Green Day fan though. "Dookie" was in my top ten cd's of the 90's infact. (I made a list of the top 100 cd's of the 90's on New Years Eve to celebrate 2000). Woo hoo I am a party animal huh.

Great song, by a now overlooked band that still puts out great tunes.

I love it. However, it's the only song of theirs that I actually like. I think they're really shitty apart from this - bloody annoying.

It's okay, I use to like it a lot but now it's just old, it's really annoying now and I'm just not a big fan of their sound anymore, they are too 90's. Several bands were able to create songs in the 90's that still sound good to this day, but not Green Day.

I just heard it at work today on the DISH network on the "Hot FM" channel, I was a jammin' to it as well! This song was also a favourite of mine reaching number one on my charts in 1995.

What a jam! I think I may have to pick up the "Dookie" album, since my sister only had the tape, I think. She played it so much in the car, that I even remember it playing during our car accident that gave her a concussion and gave me whiplash. But that was during "Welcome To Paradise."

I remember listening to Dookie for something like 6 months straight, and in the 12 following years I never picked it up again. This song though is still the JAM!

This guitar riff is recognizable, for sure. Since I'm not a huge rock fan (or Green Day in particular), I could never figure out the exact name of this track until recently. In my market, Q101 played this alot and I'm guessing 101.9 the Mix and WXRT played it too. Of the Green Day songs I'm familiar with, i prefer "Time of Your Life" over this one.

26 years ago today, "When I Come Around" by Green Day reached No.1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart for the first of seven weeks. "Around" wasn't commercially released as a single, so it didn't chart the Hot 100. But it did reach No.6 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. It was the fourth single from Green Day's third studio album, "Dookie" and it followed up on the success of previous radio hits "Longview" and principally "Basket Case." This is my favourite songs of theirs for sure.

Huge hit. One of their best, and most memorable.
