If there's already a topic for this song, I sincerely apologize. Put the blame on the damned search function...
Anyway, this was Stevie B's first charted single on the R&R chart. It only got as high as #32, which I thought was a shame. I remember first hearing the song on B96 on Christmas Eve, 1989, while I was playing Temple Of Doom on my NES and waiting for "Rockin' America" to start. I was like, man, this song is awesome! I heard it more and more through January and was wondering if this would be another Billboard-only track, like "I Wanna Be The One" and "In Your Eyes". I remember Casey Kasem would usually cut out the bridge ("Tell me who's gonna make my days seem brighter, if you're gone...).
Stevie B finally started hitting the chart in major way later on in 1990, with his #1 song "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)" and in 1991 with the #10 song "I'll Be By Your Side".
But I still think this is his best song.

But I still think this is his best song. I agree. What I remember most about this song was how my local Top 40 station played it in heavy rotation for several weeks, leading me to believe it would be a much bigger hit than it actually was. They too played the edited version most of the time, which really drove me nuts because I never heard the song anywhere else.

Eh, I was never much big on Stevie B's ballads... to me, his voice was too weak to carry them (aside from "Because I Love You", which was helped by reverb effects). My favorite song by him is the R&B radio mix of "Love & Emotion".

I first heard it when I bought the cassette for it. First time I heard it on radio was on a trip to Disneyworld. I like it.

Didn't know this song existed as I was very young when it came out and was played on my top 40 station (B96 in Chicago). I was only familiar with Because I Love You (The Postman Song) and 1995's "Dream About You" when it came to his ballads. This song is okay but I prefer most of his uptempo freestyle songs that B96 often played when I was younger.
