"Cherry Bomb" peaked at #6, as did his previous single, "Paper In Fire". CB ranked at #66 for 1987. www.keystonehighways.com/uubru1987.htmlCB has stood the test of time better than most of JCM's songs. :)

"Cherry Bomb" is probably also my favorite Mellencamp single. In fact "The Lonesome Jubilee" may arguably be his best album, which "Scarecrow" was also great.
The accordions and female vocals in the song really bring the harmonics in.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Lonesome Jubilee is easily my favorite album by him. I like a lot of singles better, but Cherry Bomb is very good also.

I believe "Jack and Diane" and "We Ain't Even Done With The Night" are my favorites... but I like this one a lot.

Wow...I've actually heard this several times on Joe FM without knowing it was this song. (As I type this, the song just ended, but I distinctly heard the words "cherry bomb", which got me thinking "wait a minute...!")
It's pretty good. Its chorus reminds me so much of the chorus of "Pink Houses" that I often get them confused, which probably explains why I couldn't distinctly identify this song for so long. [/font]

The female voice gives an interesting touch to this song about feeling nostalgia for younger years. I love how Country this record is! Listening to it right now!

This is decent though my favorites from him are "Jack and Diane", "Hurts So Good", and "Check It Out".
