He and Natalie Imbruglia both came back after a long time away, and both tanked. This song did slightly better on pop, #28 to Natalie's #30. Multiformat support got her higher on the hot 100 though, #64 to his #77.
Both their albums peaked at #35 and plummeted from view.
I liked this song. Nice, leftfield little number that did very well in the UK (#8 but it hung around forever). I can see why a lot of people found all the falsetto annoying though.
His other singles were really bland, especially 'I Miss You'. The only other one i liked was 'Crush (1980 Me)' which was brilliant dumb camp pop.

I agree that his songs are bland, this one included. I'm really not a fan of any of his solo material.

I was never much of a Savage Garden fan. They had a few terrible songs and some okay songs. I liked this song a lot when it was out, but I don't really listen to it now, not that I have anything against it.

This was my number one song of 2002, but, as I said in the "Ordinary Day" topic, 2002 was a very weak period as far as music goes and there wasn't really anything exceptionally good out. Most of my #1 songs of 2002 were very weak and frankly, I don't really think this song was so good as to be deservant of the #1 position of 2002. But it is still a great song, though.
Of all the songs that hit #1 on my chart in 2002, my favorite right now as I type this would have to be "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" by Britney Spears.

Good background music. Wasn't great, but better than most of the stuff out there.

I didn't hate this like some people did, but there wasn't anything special about it. I'm surprised this didn't do better, especially on AC. I don't think it got higher than #15 or so there.

This was weak. I expected better from a Savage Gardener.

This was one of my most hated songs when it came out. I did end up liking the Victor Calderone mix - it's HOT. But the original really sucks.

Wow I am really surprised by the negative responses. For me, I find this to be one of the most enjoyable tracks of 2002.

I LOVE this song and most of Darren's work. "Insatiable" is actually one of my top favorites from him. His voice is killer in it and I think the arrangement is gorgeous. It's a really soothing, beautiful song. The lyrics are pretty basic, especially for Darren, but I think they're well written and have a poetic feel to them nonetheless.

Honestly, I consider this his weakest single. It was an attempt at a career saver after SG and frankly is way below my Darren standard. He needed a hit to keep his name in the spotlight, and this fit the mold at the time. From his comments, he wasn't even a fan of it and will admit he was miserable when he wrote it. The songs he's emotionally detached from show for me and lose their value pretty quickly, because I can tell they don't mean much to him. I've grown to appreciate Spin much more than I had initially though. It's a really solid pop album, especially as a first attempt at a solo record. He didn't have much time to put this together and it was the first time he was working alone and he wanted to make something completely different from Savage Garden, while still staying in the radio-friendly realm. It's a beautiful song with the most flawless falsettos known to music. That's really what saves the song for me; Darren's stunning vocals. If it were any other artist I wouldn't give this song the light of day, but Darren can sing his magic into the weakest of songs and make them incredible. I was disappointed in all of the singles from Spin, because there are some seriously great songs on the album and he/the record label released the worst of the tracks as singles. "I Miss You" and "Crush (1980 Me)" are two of the weakest songs on the album. I know he loves "Crush" and the record company wanted a sappy love song so "I Miss You" was released, but with songs like "Heart Attack" and "Dirty"... What? Those are solid songs and better represent the album, much more than the singles that were released. Everything he released after Spin is really where it's at. He was still trying to find his footing with that album.

I loved Victor Calderone's remix of this. That man can save any trainwreck. I got into this song in its original form after I heard a mashup remix of it with a choice Junior Vasquez instrumental. It re-invented the song for me.
