Their biggest hit, peaking at #3 in R&R and lasting 17 weeks on the chart, and hitting #2 in Billboard. I heard it for the first time this week - having heard it twice now - and it's excellent. One thing I like in particular is the musical intro, because it just draws you in. The only other song from Breathe that I've heard is "Don't Tell Me Lies", which I also liked when I heard it. In the case of that song, I heard it without ever finding out who sang it, but I have yet to find evidence of any other artist singing a song called "Don't Tell Me Lies".

"Hands To Heaven" wasn't in the year-end Top Ten on R&R. It may have been in the Top 10 on Billboard's year-end chart, but I think the song finished somewhere in the teens on R&R.

one of my favorite bands from the 80s. their album "all that jazz" was pretty much close to pop perfection, in my opinion. although "hands to heaven" is not my favorite breathe song from this album (that would be "all this i should have known") it's still up there along with "how can i fall?" and "don't tell me lies". (their 2nd album was soooooo underrated. i guess you can blame it on the "sophomore jinx". :() BTW, i loved it so much, i actually bought the album twice... bought another after i "lost" my first copy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oC-xU_ghmVgBTW, is this the "don't tell me lies" you heard? ;) www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-b8wf4EbT0

I've just checked, and it was #12. I had thought that it did rank in the Top 10. I do remember seeing it ranked in Billboard's Top 10, though. It finished ahead of Roll With It, which oddly enough, had kept it out of #1.

"Hands To Heaven" finished the year at #9 on Billboard. I think it hit #1 on the R&R AC chart though, but not BB. "How Can I Fall" hit #1 on the BB AC chart though for 2 weeks. Both are great songs that I still listen to on my ipod any chance I get.

This is a great song , too bad they only had one really successful album. Does anybody know how much All That Jazz sold?

I was pleased that the video along with "How Can I Fall" recieved some airplay on BET at the time. This is a classic, at the time of the reelase I did not care for it too much, because the song to me dragged. I was young. As I grew mature I simply got into it, really.

I've just checked, and it was #12. I had thought that it did rank in the Top 10. Wow, I'm surprised that it ranked that high. I was thinking that it was in the lower half of the teens. It shows that I haven't looked at the YE1988 list for awhile. I do remember seeing it ranked in Billboard's Top 10, though. It finished ahead of Roll With It, which oddly enough, had kept it out of #1. That reminds me of the situation on the Year-End AC list of 1994. "You Mean The World To Me" by Toni Braxton, the only song to be kept out of the top spot by "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" by Elton John, finished the year in the runner-up position while Elton's song came in at number five (for some reason, they didn't give the songs extra points for each week at #1 that year).

The YouTube comments on that music video is so positive. Sweet, gentle, heartfelt, voice of an angel, magical, gold, soul and more.

"This song is for all those who, in innocence, still dream of a perfect love" - that's what the note on the sleeve of the single says. I love "Hands to Heaven." David Glasper's voice was really something special. I still have my "All That Jazz" CD, I listen to it from time to time.

I love this song as well. I was in elementary school when it came out, and I remember an older girl (so like 8 years old!) telling me it was her and her boyfriend's song lmao. Anyway it has always been a favorite.
I also love "How Can I Fall" and other songs mentioned.
