This is my favorite song from the 1960s. Here are the lyrics:
Artist: Scott McKenzie Song: San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)
If you're going to San Francisco Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair If you're going to San Francisco You're gonna meet some gentle people there
For those who come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there In the streets of San Francisco Gentle people with flowers in their hair
All across the nation such a strange vibration People in motion There's a whole generation with a new explanation People in motion people in motion
For those who come to San Francisco Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair If you come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there
If you come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there

I like this too! This is such a fun song. I'm from the S.F. bay area so whenever I hear this, I'm like, "this is about my area of the country!"
There have been countless dance remakes of this. The most recent one was by Global Deejays (they also remade "Stars On 45" and "Flashdance...What A Feeling" too). The version I have of it actually uses the original vocals. I don't know if they got the clearance for the released versions as they couldn't on the "Flashdance" one so they got some crappy vocalist to resing the vocals. Ewwww. Also, Sir Ivan did a really uptempo remake of this in like 2003. Party 92.7 (RIP) used to play this a lot. It was great in the beginning and then it got annoying because they played it every hour. Now that the station is gone, I miss the version they played by John Kano.

Summertime will be a love-in there I always thought that line was "Summertime will be your lovin' bear".

San Francisco got to #4 on the Hot 100 in 1967 but #1 in the UK

I'm sure I heard this on an oldies station at some point, but it also must have been featured in a "60s music" infomercial, 'cause that's what I think of when I think of this song now.

Good song. McKenzie is probably known more for his songwriting but his pair of hits are both respectable.

This is the first song I thought about after I heard the news of his death.
