I first heard Imani Coppola's only(?) hit, Legend of a Cowgirl, back in '97.
Yes, I loved the song. It samples Donovan's '60s hit, Sonshine Superman (that's the song title I had difficulty remembering).

This song had quite the unusual sound compared to the rest of the chart then... I liked this song.

wicked song, but why did Britney use a sample of this song on her new album?

wicked song, but why did Britney use a sample of this song on her new album? My guess is because Britney doesn't have an original bone in her body!!! Gotta luv her though. I really liked this song. It was like nothing on the radio. Very experimental. Isn't she Francis Ford Coppola's daughter??

wicked song, but why did Britney use a sample of this song on her new album? :o Ben! I knew that song on Britney's album sounded like something else. I listened to "Legend Of A Cowgirl" and now I know why I recognized it!

I haven't heard this in a while so I don't really remember how it sounds, but I know I like it. This was out right around the time I started following current music.

This song was GREAT! I loved the video, too... especially the part where she's dancing as a waitress, she's hot. ;)

This was cool because it was so deformed. As a girl in my 12th grade art class said when this song was on the radio: "What the hell is wrong with this song".

Funny song. I liked it when it was out, but I don't listen to it much now.

I hated it when it was out because it sounded so messed up, but now I like it for that reason.

This song was pretty good. I'd give it a "B-."
Was the title even mentioned in the lyrics?

The followup 'I'm A Tree' is even better, but went nowhere.

Imani should've stayed in the spotlight. MTV used to play this all the time. Good days.

Loved this ever since I discovered it as a kid watching Daria. Just re-thought of it somehow.

This played on the 90s on 9 this morning with the tagline in front of it "bet you haven't heard this one in awhile" and as soon as it started I was like "yup!"
Definitely different sounding for the time but I liked it. Got quite a bit of play here back in the day.

I've always loved this song. It's really catchy and has a cool vibe. I don't think I've heard anything else by her. Is the rest of her music like this one? Was the title even mentioned in the lyrics? Nope. The title is just a description of the song, though "legend" is obviously used in the lyrics.
