Good song. One of my favorite R&B love songs.
I am having trouble coming up with any other Patti Austin songs that hit the chart, so she may be a one-hit wonder.

She may be a one-hit wonder on CHR/Pop, but she sure wasn't on the A/C chart. She had several other top tens on that chart, including another duet with James, "How Do You Keep The Music Playing", which is a GREAT song, as are the other two that I can think of, both of which charted in 1990. The first one from the very beginning of that year was actually credited to Sadao Watanabe, featuring Patti on the vocals, "Any Other Fool". Her other song, from that spring, was called "Through The Test Of Time". I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones that stand out in my mind. The other song I've heard by her was actually the flipside of "Baby Come To Me", an instrumental called "Solero". Not bad, but nowhere near as good as the four songs I've mentioned.

I do not like it, but I her other songs such as "Do You Love Me", "Heat Of Heat", "It's Gonna Be Special", her remake of Alison Moyet's "Honey For The Bees" and "Shoot The Moon" (which was a number one hit on my charts when I first heard in 1986, original release was 1984).

40 years ago this week, "Baby Come To Me" debuted at #91 on the Oct. 16, 1982 Billboard Hot 100.
Even though it debuted, it did not have a bullet. Probably a production error...
