This is one of my favorite songs by these guys but seems to get lost in the shuffle. I haven't seen it on any greatest hits albums and haven't heard anyone talk about it even when it was out. How did it do on the charts. The single had an acoustic version which I wore out and had to buy another one.

Hit #11 on the Hot 100, #9 on R&R's pop chart. It does appear on their greatest hits album for Arista, Master Hits (which is comprised of songs from their two hit albums for Arista).
I like this song.

I have never been a big fan of Hall & Oates but I've always enjoyed this hit. :)

I like it. There's at least a dozen of their songs I like more, but this is pretty good even by their standards.

I don't really remember this one. I have the "Very Best of CD", and "So Close" isn't on it. Looks like it was their last big hit. I looked up the Mediabase Quick Cut Info on this and it looks like it only got 1 spin (at AC radio) in the last month... I'd say this really is a forgotten hit. I found the video on YouTube, not really a great video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cI03IpoaEO8One thing got my attention... There is a strange chord at about 3:31 that I wasn't expecting and then a key change not long after.

This song is amazing and my favorite from them. Listened to it all the time as a kid.

The one-two punch of So Close and Don't Hold Back Your Love from that album was everything to me at the time. Both songs have aged very well, and have a spot alongside their bigger hits and classics on my playlist.
