I'm surprised there isn't already a thread on this but nothing came up. This is without a doubt, my favorite Madonna song. I love everything about this classic! The video was super hot as well. Best song off of Bedtime Stories

It woulda been better if some1 with a more versatile voice was behing it and could do more with it like runs and things like that to make the song less boring, but it was still good. Sometimes i get bored with it and other times I love it. I think hearing Babyface's voice saves this song for me.

Classic Diva balladry, yes, but I agree that Babyface adds a special touch to the song. In fact, I think his vocals should have been used even more for extra texture.

Love this song! It's not deserving of being her longest running #1 on the Hot 100, but it was deserving of #1. :)

One-half of the cold hard winter of sorrow in 1995, started when "On Bended Knee" hit #1 on the last chart of '94. This is decent, but there are others that I like better. It woulda been better if some1 with a more versatile voice was behing it and could do more with it like runs and things like that to make the song less boring, but it was still good. :o I didn't know he contributed to this song. LOL! He only produced, arranged, wrote and sang backing vocals!

It spent 5 weeks at #1 on the pop charts. Her best yet.

I LOVED this when it was released. Especially Babyface' involvement. Madonna fans hate this song I still love it, but not as much as I used to. The two first singles from "Bedtime Stories" was perfect. But it went downhill with the title track and "Human Nature". I love the title track but it's NOT a single. She should've released "Inside Of Me", "Forbidden Love" or "Love Tried To Welcome Me" instead. And "Sanctuary" was great too. I can't believe it was the B-side to "Bedtime Story". It should have been the A-side.

It's funny that this is her biggest hit in the US, but basically her biggest flop in the UK. I like it, but I prefer "Secret" as far as singles from Bedtime Stories go and it definitely doesn't deserve to be nor does it sound like it is Madonna's big hit. I guess she just released this in the period of the 90's where urban ballads were the in thing and this road the wave.

I tend to dislike this song more and more as time goes by. At the time it sounded very nice on radio and was such an obvious hit, but looking back now... it really just sort of blends in with everything released at the time. And the video is so overrated. Boring tripe.

One of my favorites from her. It almost became my graduation song, but it lost out to Boyz II Men. JAM!!! And I loved the IndaSoul remixes. She should've released "Inside Of Me", "Forbidden Love" or "Love Tried To Welcome Me" instead. I loved all of those, but "Inside of Me" is probably my favorite song off of Bedtime Stories. It should've definitely been a single.

I think it's kinda boring. This song needed a strong voice to scream and do melismas and all that sort of things that make a boring A/C ballad a listeneable one.

I like this song. It hit #1 on my charts in early 1995. I don't like it now as much as I did back then. Due to its overplay, I got a little tired of it but not so much that I switch the station when it comes on.

I love it, one of her best songs and amongst her top ballads. Very beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

Biggest in terms of weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 (which is always relative)- but it's nowhere near her biggest seller or anything.
I like it a lot- some thought she "sold out" by working with Babyface, but she brought something different to the typcial Babyface production (i.e. he had never worked with a live orchestra before). He said she showed him that collabos like this can actually turn out good.
I like the sarcastic nature of the lyrics. It's about a relationshoip gone bad, but she's not dying or anything. She's just reflecting on it, in a bittersweet manner.

I was mad at the ease at which this climbed the charts (I tend to root for the underdog and I didn't like this song coming along and leaping up 18 spots in its second week). And I pretty much didn't care for Madonna whatsoever back in my AT40 days.
Nowadays, there's no denying that this is a beautiful song, however.

I feel like a moron but I was listening to this the other day and realized that the background vocals are actually Babyface! I knew he worked on the song but for some reason it didn't really click to me that he actually sang in it! LOL! That was so weird to me!

I like the song but sometimes it drags and becomes quite dull.
