Former New Edition member. Great 90's slow jam that hit #1 on the r&b charts. You certainly don't hear this type of r&b these days.

My brother- in- law burned it on CD gave it to me. Yeah, it brought back some memories from the 1990s. I really did not care for the song then as I do now. I prefer "Stone Cold Gentleman".

I also think it was all about "Stone Cold Gentleman." But both were good.

As far as midtempo New Jack jams go, this is certainly one of the best. The way how Ralph's voice flows really makes you believe he's the sensitive guy he claims to be. More importantly, the silky-smooth production is what gives the song its true edge. There's an eerie, almost haunting vibe there that really involves the listener and arrests him/her. In the end, I think we all agree that the real hook in this song is not so much the you need a man with sensitivity/a man like me semi-chorus (if we listen very closely, this song doesn't even have a real, classic chorus to it), but rather those looped-up synth-lines. Now that I think about, this song was probably one of the most formally inventive singles to hit the Top 5 in the early 90s.

I had no idea Janet did backing vocals on this either. Were they uncredited? They weren't in the liner notes.

They weren't credited but (I think) you can clearly hear her, specifically on the "oooh" and "Man, with, sen-si-tivity". The song was written and produced by JJ&TL and legend has it Janet lent vocals for it while they were recording at Flyte Tyme Studios. Ralph T later returned the favor on "The Best Things In Life Are Free".

I’ve always loved this song - and I’ve gone back to revisit it a lot latel
Mind blown that Janet’s been on it all along, but it totally makes sense considering the JJ & TL connection. I hear her “ooh!” With ease now!

I hear her “ooh!” With ease now! This might be a bold statement, but I’d put this in one of the top ten best R&B productions of the 90s. The Janet connection makes it all that more special. Im surprised this hasn’t been heavily sampled yet!

Often heard this on WGCI, V103, and B96 back then. Didn't like it but I didn't really hate it either despite being a very popular early 90s R&B track.
