I thought this was pretty damn mediocre when it came out, and I still do, but compared to the complete dribblepiss she's churned out ever since, this sounds like an absolute classic. At least it's sort of catchy and fun.
'Got a nice package alright Guess i'm gonna have to ride it tonight'
remains one of the vilest lyrics ever though. Sadly she's only gotten worse in that department.

Yeah, your first paragraph pretty well sums up my thoughts, too.

All For You went to #1 for Janet in 2001 and is still her last chart toper on the pop charts

I didn't really care for it when it came out, probably because of the overused sample. I love it now, though. Pure pop bliss.

I like it because it's Janet, but not one of my favorites by her. This was a monster airplay hit at its peak....wasn't it the first track (at the time) to be added to every single pop, rhythmic & urban station by its add week??

This is alright, but it really lacks that extra punch that most of her previous singles had imo.

I didn't realize how dirty some of the lyrics are. This is still good after 8 years.

Ah, this was sooo hot when it was released (well it still is). Definitely one of my favorite Janet songs.

All for You, the official first single off the album of the same. Anyone got any info on how it did on Rhythmic and Urban, I know it hit #1 on pop. Also, does anyone know its initial first airplay results, after the first few days it was released. I read somewhere it was the first and only song to be added to every Pop, Rhythmic, and Urban station that reported to R&R, and would LOVE to see her airplay stats from the first weeks. Anyways have fun discussing this incredible song.

Did somebody call for R&R Stats? CHR/Pop: #1 (3 weeks) CHR/Rhythmic: #3 Urban: #4 (2 weeks) Urban AC: #4 Hot AC: #23 Anyway, this song is a classic. Shame the album it originates from is a piece of poo. :( Bar the singles and a few album tracks.

My favourite AFY memory:
When I was in grade 10, they showed the video on big screens as people were filing in at a high school assembly. The girls next to me were dancing in their seats and singing "got a nice package alright, guess I'm gonna have to ride it tonight."
So. Much. Fun.

Loved the lyrics and the song. The lyrics were the best part of the song.

I liked it.
This sampled the 1980 song "The Glow Of Love" by Change (and featured Luther Vandross on vocals).
