One hell of an amazing ballad. One of my most memorable song of the 80s, and it was slightly underrated in my opinion.
Elton John's singles are true classics. No question about it.

Yet another song I didn't care for when it was popular; now it's one o' my favorites by Elton. :)

This topic is what inspired my topic for "Private Emotion", since the verses sound so much alike. The only difference is, I love "Private Emotion", but I'm not too much for this song, although it is OK. I remember the song only got as high as number 25, but spent about ten weeks on the chart, which was unusually long for such a peak in 1990. Now it's unusually short. ;) I prefer the lead-off single from "Sleeping With The Past", which was "Healing Hands". I also liked "Club At The End Of The Street".

I like it. I hear that Sinead O'Connor also has a version.

Sinead's version is gorgeous. It appears on the "Two Rooms: Celebrating the music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin".

This is an incredible song. Most people love the Elton of the 70's. I love his 80's stuff the best.

Sinead's version is gorgeous. It appears on the "Two Rooms: Celebrating the music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin". THIS. Happy to see someone else mention this. I was going to myself. An understated yet bright shining moment in Elton's singles discography.

31 years ago today, "Sacrifice" by Sir Elton John hit its peak position on the Hot 100 Singles chart at No.18. In the U.K., it originally peaked at No.55 but months later the song was re-released as a double A-side single with "Healing Hands" and wound up spending 5 massive weeks at No.1. "Sacrifice" was written by Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin and it was included in his 1989 album "Sleeping with the Past." This is one of my two favourite songs of all time.

Love it.
It's sampled in Dua Lipa's new single "Cold Heart".
