Kind of cheesy, but I still enjoy it.

I still love this song... it's just so freaking catchy. One of three Gold singles for ELO (back when Gold was 1 million copies).

Great song and I still hear from time to time on some of the 70s and 80s channels as well on DMX and the DISH. The first time I heard this again after many years was on VH1's "8 Track Flashback" in 1996.

I liked it too, but it was the beginning of the end of ELO.

Great song. But who is the Bruce they are talking about? That's so funny; I asked one of my co-workers the exact same thing today. The word is actually "grroosss". Jeff Lynn said that it was a word that he made up.

Anyone remember Son Of Svengoolie's parody of this song, "Don't Give Me Gum"? He sang it on his Saturday night horror movie showcase around Halloween of 1980, I believe:
I'll ring your doorbell, won't you give me a crumb? A piece of candy or a bite of your thumb Don't give me gum No no no no gum - ewww! I'll tell you once more before I knock on your door Don't give me gum
If you give me Juicy Fruit, a dead man you'll be I'll never chew it unless it's sugar free Don't give me gum No no no no gum - ewww! I'll tell you once more before I knock on your door Don't give me gum
Don't give me gum - blecch! Don't give me gum - *gag*! Don't give me gum - yecch! Don't give me gum
I'm not sure if there were additional lyrics, but those are the only ones I remember. As I recall, the parodies weren't quite as long as the original songs were.

I have so many favorite ELO songs, but this is definitely one of their most ELO rocking songs. Love it.

My favorite song by E.L.O. I tended to heard it on one of the classic rock/hits stations like 97.1 The Drive WDVR many years ago.
