Even though I like it, its probably my least favorite of the big three Olivia songs from Xanadu. "Magic" is just great, and "Suddenly" was a nice ballad. I still have to see the movie. I've heard it falls into the "Its so bad its good" category This is actually true. It would never, by any means be considered a good movie -- yet it's great. Of course, the music and effects made it so worth watching. I can't even say how many times I saw it years ago. What's really a killer is that the woman looks almost as fantastic now as then -- over 25 years later. And the last time I heard her sing, she is still good.

This song just missed topping the R&R chart in September, 1980 ("Late In The Evening" by Paul Simon edged it out of #1), and had a very unusual 6-2-5 chart move. Would have been even odder if it had hit #1! As for the song, I remember liking it at first and then getting tired of it quickly. It really hit #2? Wow! I think it only reached like #7 or #8 in Billboard. It went to #8 in Billboard

Do you remember the 1980 song by Olivia Newton John called "Xanadu" with backing vocals by the Electric Light Orchestra? This was the first and only Top 40 hit to start with the letter X.

Oh, "Xanadu," such a film... LOL.
I do like the music from it, though, as cheesy as it mostly is.

I love this! So much fun!
The remixes by Direct Hit and Steve Anderson a few years ago were pretty good.

Good song! I prefer "Magic" from the same soundtrack though.

Going to see it tonight! I'm not sure what to expect..lol How was it?? It was hysterical. A total mock on the movie. They all had great voices. I never thought I'd say this about any show but it was too short...just 90 minutes. The female lead had a really beautiful voice especially on "Suspended In Time". It was just alot of fun.

Even Don Bluth did an animated sequence in the "Xanadu" movie.

The Soundtrack LP was my reward for learning to tie my shoes when I was 5... I still love it. Xanadu is a highly underplayed and underrated single. It really took the musical to bring it back to radio oldies rotation...

love it, not my fav. ONJ song but it's still up there on the love scale. I also like Dannii Minogue's cover of this as well.

From the multi-platinum soundtrack. I love this song, and well...every song from the movie. Great vocals by ONJ.

Fabulous absolutely. So much talent on display here with E.LO. and ON-J. Interesting how this song found release right at the end of the ‘disco sucks’ movement. Proof that disco never really died right up to today with the likes of Dua, Doja and Lizzo carrying the neon-lit torch.

I had Olivia's "Greatest Hits, Vol. 2" - AKA one of the best GH compilations ever - as a kid, and was always drawn to this song. A classic.
