I really like this song, especially during the verses. William Orbit adds a nice bubbling touch to the song that is reminiscient of the work he did with Madonna on "Ray Of Light."
How well did this do on the charts in general?

I thought this was a pretty good song... not among their 10 best, though.
Peaked at #7 on my chart, and was my #52 song of 2002.

I think it's one of their worst singles. I'm not much of a William Orbit fan.

This was one of U2's best songs!

I was very impressed by this song and video. It went to #1 on my chart and logged over half a year. Too bad it didn't have much national longevity. One of the best songs they've ever done.

I wasn't as impressed with the "Band Version" of this song, which both my local stations felt inclined to play. It doesn't have the atmosphere or building drama that Orbit's mix does. That one is easily my favorite U2 song of the new millenium.

I liked this one a lot too. People were saying that this sounds like an Achtung, Baby! reject or something like that, which made it no good, and I thought that was total crap. U2 is one of those bands that never sounds old, and this song was just as good as any of their "classics". It kind of pissed me off how quickly it faded away because now they seem to have the problem that all veteran bands are having, where the old singles are overplayed and radio is too unwilling to make a low-risk decision to play the new material.

Yeah, "Lemon" was brilliant.
But yes, this song was great too. Top 10 hit on my personal chart, and I do believe it's one of their best, despite not being a track on their album. I don't know about anyone else, but save for a few overrated tracks/albums, post-Joshua Tree U2 is overlooked. Which is a shame, and it beats me why "The Sweetest Thing" made top 10 and not this, because it's so much better. And this particular mix in particlar. I guess radio really sucked that bad.

Yeah, "Lemon" was brilliant. The video is even better. I remember staying up til 3am to catch it during MTV2's A-Z marathon back in early 2000 because I'd never seen it before. What a trip. Luckily I now own it on DVD, with commentary!

Electrial Storm got to #68 on the Hot 100 in 2002
Anyone got VHS tapes of the MTV2 A to Z marathon that aired in 2000?

Pretty good, but there wouldn't be room for it on a cd of my favorite U2 songs.

I wasn't into this much at the time, but I've grown to love it. Definitely one of their best 00s singles.
