I didn't find this when doing a search.
Tom Tom Club was a side project of Talking Heads members Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz. This early 80s classic was later sampled by Mariah Carey for her #1 hit "Fantasy".
Very catchy tune.

I love this song! I really love how Mariah Carey used this in her song "Fantasy". Though I wish Mariah had re-sung more of "Genius Of Love" because she could have really pulled it off.
Here is a list of songs that contain samples from "Genius Of Love":
Almighty RSO's "Badd Boyz" Ant Banks's "Roll Em Phat" Ant Capone's "Murder Loc" AtLaw's "Dose of the Mega Flex" Black Eyed Peas' "Who Needs" Boogiemonster's "Bronx Bombas" Boogie Monster's "I Like It" Busta Rhymes ft Erykah Badu's "One" Cam'ron ft Kenny Greene's "Me, My Moms & Jimmy" Carey, Mariah's "Fantasy" Da Blac Hole Of Watts' "Putting Watts On The Map" Dr Jeckyll's "Genius Rap" Dream Warriors's "And Now the Legacy Begins" Funkdoobiest "Natural Fun" (aka "I'm Gonna Have Some Fun") Funky Town Pros "Genius is Back" GrandMaster Flash & Furious Five's "It's Nasty" GrandMaster Flash & Furious Five's "We Will Rock You' Hardeman's "All Around The World" Mack 10, featuring Old Dirty Bastard & Buck Shot Shorty, "For the Money" Mark Morrison's "Return of the Mack" Mase w/DJ Clue "That's The Way" Mellow Man Ace's "Linda" Menajahtwa "I Ain't Nasti" Mike Gold's "Don't Stop" Mz. Kilo's "Skills For Real" Poppa Charm & Mr. Ku "What Cha Gonna Do?" "Life Is Crazy" Threat's "Give it Up" Tomboy's "Can I Shake It" W.C. & The Maad Circle's "Curb Serving" Wild Pony's "Poppin' In The Club" XClan's "In the Ways Of Saal" Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers (Hank Shocklee's remix) "Tomorrow People"

Here is a list of songs that contain samples from "Genius Of Love": ...and one you missed, Rich Little's "President Rap's" (yeah, that's how the title is listed on the disc), a Top 40 R&B single in 1982. It's basically 9 minutes of Little's Reagan impersonations over a looped instrumental of "Genius Of Love".

Just listened to it and Wordy Rappinghood over the weekend. I thought at the time that they might get outdated fast, but in truth, they sound great over the years.

I started liking this song after I heard it in Mariah Carey's song.

this is such a jam i caught the video on VH1 Classic's Totally 80's show the other day. this topped the hot club/dance play charts and it nearly topped the R&B singles chart it peaked at no.2, i can't believe this actually came out in 1981. i always think of "Fantasy" when i hear this

I LOVE "Genius Of Love"! Such a fun song. According to WhoSampled, it's been sampled about 60 times. I actually thought it would have been sampled more.
Love the video too.
They performed this on Jimmy Fallon's show last year. Tina Weymouth is still hot (THOSE LEGS) and she's in her 60s. :o

One of the best 1980s songs of all time. I often heard this as an 80s flashback on WGCI, V103, and B96 when i was younger. Mariah Carey sampling it in her hit "Fantasy" was most likely my earliest memory of "Genius of Love".

before there was Mariah and Latto there was the song they sampled. good example of a song ahead of it's time.
