I liked this; it was a more "mature" sound for her. Never got the Head Over Heels album, though.

I LOVED "My Love Is For Real". It was so sexy and kind of different for her. Did it even reach the Top 40??? I thought "Crazy Cool" was kind of corny but they must of wanted her to go back to a more pop track. The album as a whole was good in my opinion. I liked Cry For Me, If I Was Your Girl and a quite a few other's.
Why the Paula backlash at the time? Even though "Spellbound" dropped a decent amount from "Forever Your Girl" but "My Love Is For Real was a huge drop off.

I bought her Greatest Hits that had the R&B remix of this about a year ago, but I just now got into this. It's one of my favorite of her singles.

i always disliked the R&B mix. the orignial and the Junior Vazeuz mix are the best. I still think this song sounds so hot. I dont even think it sounds very dated. I think HOH could have been more successful. I think they should have released IF I WERE YOUR GIRL second (bc all three ballads she released were all hits). and pop/r&b ballads were really popular at that time. i think with MYIFR, CC and ANGGYU, the record company was really pushing the more urban/r&b tracks (wasnt the choice is yours released to urban radio?)

The Choice Is Yours was double A listed on the Crazy Cool Cassingle but wasn;t listed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart because it didn't garner any crossover airplay. I don't recall ever hearing it on urban stations at the time. Head Over Heels had some great moments but was too long, a few draggy choices toward the end should've been eliminated. Virgin should've promoted My Love Is For Real but beyond doing a very expensive video there wasn't much else. When the single underperformed there was zero done that I could see for Crazy Cool and Never Gonna Give You Up.

This has recently become one of my favorite Paula Abdul songs. It's the only song I liked (or even remember) off Head Over Heels though.

Virgin records did treat it strange. MLIFR had a big budget video and everything and got lots of MTV and VH1 and intital radio play. but why didnt paula promote? there were no US promotional performances of MLIFR (that i can remember?). then came crazy cool (which appeared to big a another expensive video) and she did do performances and promo then. but i wonder why she didnt promote more herself when HOH first came out. I would love to hear paula talk about HOH. and what she thinks went wrong. what songs she loved....... the album has a lot of filler and is was to long. I think they should have trimmed it down.
I think they should have cut "love dont come easy", "sexy thoughts", "get your groove on"
I think MLIFR was a perfect 1st single but when it didnt BLOW UP, i think they should have gone with a ballad. i think IIWYG could have hit and saved the album.

This song is incredible. Deserved to be bigger. The long break definitely hurt her a bit.

This is my favorite post-Forever Your Girl single from her. I actually prefer the R&B mix to the album version.

I like this, mainly for the instrumental. She definitely took a chance, but everything about this album and the singles seemed so off with what was going on. She just wasn't an artist that was meant to last.

Ok song but Paula's time was between 1988 and 1991. This song did get some airplay on B96 when I was younger as did the follow-up "Crazy Cool".

This was really ahead of its time. I loved the slinky, sensual tone that Paula used for parts of it with her usual. Ofra's vocalizations just added to the atmosphere of the song.
The music video was incredible too. I used to see it all the time on The Box when this was out.
I was sad then when I found out it didn't do well.

I think I do remember seeing the video on VH-1 where she's dressed up as some Middle Eastern princess, not sure.
I do like the song, tho. It does sound pretty hot and sensual.

I was going back to college.
I heard it on the radio quite a bit.
