This was a medicore song from 1990.
And I'd bet it's probably the most obscure #1 song of the 1990s. It didn't get much airplay after it fell off the chart, nor did the group go on to big things.

What about "Deeper And Deeper" by Madonna? I don't hear that song very often either.
It is definitely one of the most obscure songs of the 1990s, though. I never hear it anymore. Too bad, as it's definitely a great song. It would be a good song for Casey Kasem to play as an "AT10 Archive Song".

It's my favorite single by them.

Did it ever hit the AC chart? Maybe he'll play it if he spotlights 1990.

I hope he spotlights 1990 and plays this one and not boring overplayed songs like "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips and "Downtown Train" by Rod Stewart, as well as others. But he did OK this week with 1989, playing songs like "The Best" and "As Long As You Follow", songs that some AC radio stations don't touch anymore.

Well, that shows how long it's been since I've looked through my 1990 AC charts. I had forgotten that it had done so well. That said, it would be ideal to play if Casey ever does a 1990 Spotlight.

I don't think "Deeper & Deeper" was #1 on pop; It was.

Yeah, "Deeper And Deeper" was #1 for a single week in early 1990. It just fell down the chart really fast (I believe its downward trend was 1-3-14-31). I guess it sounded so much like "Vogue", which was still getting played a lot at the time.

"Deeper And Deeper" hit #1 in January of 1993. It fell 1-3-17. Are you sure? I seem to remember it falling from 1 to 3 to 14. Of course, maybe I'm confusing it with Gavin, but I don't think so, as songs tended to fall down the Gavin chart faster than on R&R (and it definitely wasn't my version of 1993's charts, since I never put "Deeper And Deeper" at #1. I gave "A Whole New World" by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle the week that Madonna was #1 on the R&R chart, since that was one of my favorite songs at the time. Sorry about the typo concerning the year that "Deeper And Deeper" hit #1. I meant 1993. Madonna's hit from January, 1990 was "Oh Father" and even that didn't get close to #1.

Yeah, but the song was still on the chart in the first week of January.
And I just checked my R&R charts and "Deeper And Deeper" indeed fell from 1 to 3 to 14. "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston was at #17 the week of February 12, the week that Madonna was number 14. It might have fallen from 1 to 3 to 17 on some other chart, but it definitely wasn't on R&R.

I did notr care for thsi ballad because to me that was not Sweet Sensation. I love their dance ditties such as "Hooked On You", "Sincerly Yours", & "Love Child".

I discovered this recently. It by a decent margin has the least plays on Spotify of every single #1 hit from the past 40 years! How on Earth did it even go #1

Just discovered this. It's nice, but it's not quite up there with their earlier singles. The sound does make me feel very nostalgic.
