LOVE THIS SONG. It's one of those songs where when it comes on you can't help but sing along and get into it.
Rod Stewart is the man. His albums of standards are really good too. I really want to see him in concert. I wonder if he's going to continue with his "Great American Songbook" series or if he's considering doing some new material soon.

I don't like many of his songs but I think this one's great!

Very good song.
A friend of mine saw Rod about a year ago and said he plays more of his originals than the standards in concert.

This was a favorite of my mom's when she was a kid.
I enjoy it.

This song's alright, I guess. The song was way overplayed, however, even many years after it hit the charts.
When my favorite station, Pulse FM, left the 102.3 frequency, it was replaced by a classic rock station. "Maggie May" was the first song played on the station.
I know of at least one police officer who doesn't like the song. On an episode of "C.O.P.S", they arrested someone for public intoxication (I think) and he had been breaking records. At the end of the segment, one of the cops picked up the record to see what it was. He said, "Hmm, "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart. I probably would have broken it too."

Maggie May was Rod Stewart's first big hit and was #1 for 5 weeks in 1971

Probably so, but it's not my favorite of his solo hits. I love it, but I love Stay With Me even more. Still, this one got much more critical attention and if I didn't prefer the hard-rock Rod Stewart to the mellow Rod Stewart, it'd probably be my favorite too.

I love this, but I prefer "Hot Legs", along with his rockier stuff.

Good song, but it's one of the more overplayed songs from the 70s.

He should've mentioned "May" in the lyrics.
