This is one of my fave Mariah and Boys II Men song. I remember listening to it on the radio while it was snowing outside. And I also remember getting Daydream for Christmas.
Anyways.. What do you think of this song? And do you think it deserved 16 Weeks at #1 on the Hot 100?

I have a spot in my heart for this song, altho it is not typical of what I normally listen to.
As for its length at top of charts, all I can say is I really wish the chart criteria was never changed, if only because, as a chart follower since the early-mid 70s, it's impossible to stack this song up against the long running #1s of my era (You Light Up My Life [yuck] and Physical [almost yuck]) and determine whether it should have out lasted them. between the 3 songs, I would gladly have Mariah and Boyz ahead of Debby Boone and Olivia Newton-John, but I really wonder how many weeks those 2 would have spent at the top if the same criteria was in place. I know Debby's was a huge selling single, the points earned from sales could have given her a 15 or more week run at the top which would have been a terrible thing, IMO.

I'm not a huge fan of the album version. But I really like Chucky's remix, which was played heavily at urban.

It's good. Not my favorite Mariah song, but my favorite Boyz II Men song definitely. There's not much you can say about a song that pretty much everyone has heard millions of times.

It's a good song. It's probably my least favourite Daydream single.
Does anyone know what the difference is between the "ACapella" and the "Sweet ACapella" mixes? I've had both on my iTunes for ages and I can't tell the difference, lol.

I've had both on my iTunes for ages and I can't tell the difference, lol. The acapella mix is totally vocal, and contains no music or instrumentation. The sweet acapella has a few flourishes of instrumental and sound effects throughout, they're very slight, and if you don't listen carefully, you miss them.

For being her biggest hit in the 90s, this sure was overshadowed by other songs in her catalogue. I think it's a great ballad and for a while, it was my favorite song from her. Should have won Record Of The Year.

I don''t like it.
It's too perfect for me. This was made to be a huge hit, too predictable!

After hearing it as an AT20 Long Distance Dedication numerous times, I appreciated it even more.

For being such a massive, record-breaking song... you barely hear it anymore. That kind of sums it up for me. Very forgettable and over the top with the histrionics. She's had WAY better hits.

^I agree. I don't even really like this lol. Thank God WBT is now her biggest. I predict that WBT will also become her biggest recurrent and her most memerable hit.

The song is a decade old and it isn't the kind of song that radio would eat up now so of course it's not going to get played that often. That doesn't mean it's no longer as big as it once was.
That being said, it's one of my favorites from her. She and Boyz II Men make a great team.

It's a good song , but I don't think there's any song in this world that deserves 16 weeks at #1.

Amazing song, although not my favorite from either artist (my favorite Boyz II Men song being "On Bended Knee", and my favorite Mariah song being "Always Be My Baby").

I'm not a huge fan of the album version. But I really like Chucky's remix, which was played heavily at urban. I love both versions, but I think Chucky's remix has held up better for me. It's more subtle and doesn't have the big adult contemporary production.

Of all the songs to be her longest #1, this one? I never listen to this anymore and it doesn't even seem to be that well remembered overall outside of the record books.

I absolutely love this and always have. Truth be told, it is a little bit bizarre that this, of all songs, holds the biggest Billboard record, but well it was a song that resonated with millions so I understand.
The bridge is stunning in my opinion and elevates the song just before that killer final chorus comes on.

What do you think of this song? And do you think it deserved 16 Weeks at #1 on the Hot 100? I still hear this on the radio when I'm out in public. In terms of the quality, yes, I do think the song did deserved to be #1 at 16 weeks because I think it did helped people got through some tough times when losing a loved one. I really do appreciate the sentiment of this song and what it was going for. It's actually my most favorite single from Daydream because it wasn't focusing on a typical love story for once.
