It didn't use to be one of my favs, but in recent years I've connected with it for personal reasons. I love it.

The video has over 100 million views:
Can streaming be combined with physical singles sales for certifications, or just digital sales? This could easily be 3x Platinum if they combine its physical sales and streaming data.

Incredibly talented musicians coming together to make a powerful and inspirational song. This is what music is about. Voice, lyrics, message.

A perfect song. From the vocals to the lyrics and production; deserves it's status as the longest running #1 of all time.

I never revisit this song much, but I've been diving into all my Mariah maxi's/singles lately, how in the hell did I forget about the Chucky's Remix of this? I like that one so much more, the background vocals and harmonies are fantastic. May force me to put this back into rotation.

This song is nice, but nothing I go out of my way to listen to from her catalog. I think the main issue in disparity between weeks at number 1 and overall longevity is you have two major acts who rarely performed it aside from when they were promoting it. Mariah performs it more now because of Vegas, but I think that is the issue you run into when you combine the powers of two musical forces a smash hit for now to be forgotten later because of the inability of both acts to keep it alive after.

One of my least favorite Mariah singles from the 90s. I get why it was a huge hit, but I never get the urge to come back and listen to this one.

That remix is awesome, as is the a capella version that’s the remix sans production.

I still remember this song and the music video (where they are at the recording session). It was heavily played on B96, WGCI, Lite FM 93.9, and 100.3 in my market when it came out. While I prefer other songs from both artists, this song is still memorable.

25 years ago today, "One Sweet Day" made its debut at No.1 and started a 16 week run on top of the Hot 100. Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men sound glorious together, their voices blend quite well. I find it impossible not to love this record. It's quite meaningful to me.

25 years?!?! How is that possible? Lol. Anyway I remember this #1 debut (for sure). Mariah was everywhere that holiday season.

I remember this era like if it was yesterday. The era that made me a lamb. This song is perfection IMO, one of the best duets ever.

"OSD" will pass 100 million Spotify streams today or tomorrow to become Mariah's tenth song past that mark and BIIM's third song at that mark.

Billboard just reported "OSD" has 188 million on demand streams, which translates to 1.25 million in sales. It had 2.33 million in physical sales to combine for 3.6 million in sales. I don't have a downloads total for it, but surely it has sold at least 400,000 to be eligible for 4x platinum.

I always loved this song. Especially when it first came out. I remember getting chills when it would come on. I was also 18 when it came out and was probably way more into my emotions then.. lol I like others don’t listen to it much anymore. I’m not huge on putting the big hits from years ago on playlists/mixes but this surprisingly never makes any. Not even Mariah ones… I still really like it though.

It speaks to the insane breadth and popularity of Mariah's catalogue that this song doesn't get much nostalgia play, despite being the biggest song of all time for two decades. I think even having 'Fantasy' and 'ABMB' on the same album squeezes it out, when both of those are a lot more timeless, not to mention other 90s hits that are more beloved (strangely, I feel 'Heartbreaker' has really accelerated in recent years, but could just be my personal experience at bars or interacting with younger kids who did not experience her peak).
Still, this song is absolutely stunning vocally and it's easy to see why it had such massive success. It was truly of its moment, and there is nothing wrong with that!

In general it seems uptempos age better than ballads. Having said that, "One Sweet Day" is still among Mariah's top 10 in terms of daily Spotify streams. It's also her 5th most streamed song when you combine streams between Spotify, YouTube, and Pandora. I agree it doesn't feel like its among her top 5, but maybe part of that is there hasn't been a notable performance of it in literal decades? It's harder to promote "OSD" since it's a collaboration, but if it got a little more promo it might feel better remembered.

What is her current relationship status with Boyz II Men? Do they speak to each other anymore? If not, unfortunately, I guess there is no chance of them ever performing this song together again.

It's a pretty song but for the life of me I can't imagine how it stayed at #1 for so long.

It's a pretty song but for the life of me I can't imagine how it stayed at #1 for so long. Well, they were literally the two biggest acts at that time, which was obviously a big help. It also fit the '90s AC sound that was still relevant at the time, so it wasn't some off-putting collaboration or something (something like "Scream" is more divisive). It spent over 10 weeks at #1 in sales and 10 weeks at #1 in airplay, so that'll all do it.

The only performance of it during its record run at #1 was the performance during her MSG special. Interestingly I don't know that Mariah did much promo in the U.S for Daydream. She didn't do Oprah or SNL. Did she do any talk shows when the album was released? She performed "Fantasy" on the AMAs in January of 1996 and then performed "OSD" at the end of February, but those came well into the album's run. What promo did she have in 1995 other than the MSG special that holiday season?

Also, Tommy knew when to release certain records to give Mariah hits/#1's if that makes sense.

This song was overplayed in 1995-96. It had airplay on 92.3 The Beat, KJLH and Power 106 during that time.

I was not alive when the song originally released, and I can tell you I don't think I've heard this song on the radio once. I know NEW 102.7 in NYC has spun it recently, but I was completely unaware of how big this track was in its heyday. I've heard Hero, Fantasy, ABMB, even Dreamlover pretty often as a kid (as well as her 2000s hits but they were new songs by then), but this one I only found out because of its chart success. I think it's a good track, especially these days I've grown to appreciate this kind of ballad more. But yeah, I'd say I prefer some of her other hits.
