This is like the only song I've heard by them other than Manic Monday and Walk Like an Egyptian and I love Eternal Flame. I know it's cheesy as hell but it's one of my favs from this era. I know it went #1 on the Hot 100 too I heard.

Yeah it is pretty cheesy, but I always liked it a lot.

This was going to be my dad's and late mom's wedding song when they were married in April of '89, but she changed it to "Together Forever". It is a nice song. I didn't like the remake, though.

It's the same guitar(I think) riff and melody...that's SO funny, though! Oh and btw, i was talkin about the Atomic Kitten remake of it. ;)

This has always been a favorite of mine from them... "Hazy Shade Of Winter" would probably be my other co-favorite of theirs for me.

One of my favorite songs from the '80s. A timeless classic. :)

Straight 80's ballad cheese, but I f**king love it anyway. I love a lot of their singles.

"Is this burning an eternal flame" is probably one of the most tooth-rottingly cheesy lines ever in pop music. And this is coming from someone who loves Katy Perry.
The bridge in this is really nice though.

Lol, there was a reggae version of this song, and my mom would used to sing that version all the time when I was a very little.

32 years ago today, The Bangles landed their 2nd No.1 hit as "Eternal Flame" climbed into the top spot of the Hot 100 Singles chart for 1 week. The song was an even bigger hit in the U.K. where it stayed at No.1 for 4 weeks. Susannah Hoffs, the band's lead singer co-wrote it with Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg who also wrote Madonna's "Like a Virgin," Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors," Heart's "Alone," and Whitney Houston's "So Emotional.""Flame" was the second single from The Bangles' third album "Everything." I've always loved it.

Was Shakira ever sued for ripping this off? Or did she legally sample it? "Underneath Your Clothes" is literally this song.
I like this!

I first became aware of this song because of the Atomic Kitten's cover that was a hit here in 2001. I like both versions now, but I think I'm more attached to the cover for the nostalgia it brings me
