I have heard this song on some 80s channel online today. It's pretty unusual and I thought that I splash this to you. Originally it came out in 1982 and then was re-issued around the mid-90s as The Volkswagon Song (I'm guessing that they used this as a sub-title but used it on most of the Volkswagon TV commercials if I memory serves me correctly). It used to get on my nerves at one time. Any recollections of this odd piece of work?

I liked that commercial (the guys picking up the old chair in their VW, only to find out it reeks before dumping it again). WFLZ played the song a bit during its re-release, although not enough that it got overly annoying.

The re-release got as high as the New & Active on R&R. I still play that song here and there. I love it! I have the English - German version. In the UK it peaked at number 2 in 1982.

What a fun song! The video that came out for it was really funny!

The extention of the title with parentheses is really annoying, when you think about all there was to the song. I liked it just fine, though.

I didn't hear it when it first came out, just when a Phoenix station started playing it one summer in the mid-to-late 90s.

I loved it! None of the stations in my area played it, but I would hear it on Open House Party and Rick Dees.

This one is a classic alternative hit... burned it to the new comp a couple days ago.

This was heard all over the place in summer 1997. I want to say that WPST was the first station to play it, but I can't back that up. They were on it very early and even had their own custom edit before an officially-sanctioned one came out. Around my area, this was heard on stations as diverse as Alternative and Rhythmic CHR. The problem was that it was 2 spins a day max so it never charted.
Trio re-released their album in 1997 as well, re-titled "Da Da Da". I have it.

GREAT guilty pleasure. Barely knew of it until the summer 1997, actually.

Germany gave us a lot of weird early electronica.
