The Gap Band had so many hits, but "Yearning For Your Love" is definitely my favorite by them. It's so smooth.
Hot 100: #60 Black Singles: #5

This is my favorite Gap Band song as well! Alot of their hits were uptempo/funk, but they recorded awesome ballads that were just album tracks (like "Nothing Comes To Sleepers", "I'm In Love"- Mary J. Blige covered that one on Mary, & "You Can Count On Me"....JAM!

The Gap Band was definitely at its best when recording straight R&B. "Yearning For Your Love" and "Outstanding," are among their best.
I never really cared for their really uptempo funk songs like "You Dropped A Bomb On Me."

Charlie Wilson is one of the greatest male vocalist. The Gap Band stuff brings back memories of my childhood. Between the Gap Band and Shirley Murdock, I had enough vocal training to be a force to be reckoned with. LOL

I basically love anything they do, but this song is definitely amazing, a crime it wasn't an even bigger hit.

I like this, but I prefer Guy's version a lot more. They sang the hell out of that song!

Not a fan of the Guy version, but the original by The Gap Band is a classic in my eyes-- easily one of my favorite Charlie Wilson vocals.
I would have loved a Mariah Carey + Big Jim Wright recreation of this song.
