from her underrated 4th album, this was the lead single. it had an interesting video; come to think of it this video and the follow up were both two of her more interesting. i believe this single did the best out of any on the album, but missed top 5 R&B; still a decent hit. I thought it was a great vocal performance from her, and strong lyrics. (from 2000's "Mary")

I love it. The "Mary" album was really underrated. The singles were great, although I hate "Deep Inside". "Your Child" was my favorite.

I agree that this is a good song and that 'Mary' is an underrated album. This song came out at a time when airplay only songs weren't getting higher than Top 10 on a regular basis. It did have top 5 R&B airplay though.

I love this song and bought the album!....i have never liked every song on Marys albums as a whole and this one is just ok.. It has some bright points but its no better or worst then the rest of her albums. All of her album shave been pretty good. I wouldnt say its underrated. "share my world" is probably her best album or "my life." Mary is ALWAYS consistant and she never dissapoints.

I love this song, it's a great slice of retro-soul. One of my favorite Blige singles.
As for the Mary album, it's easily Mary J. Blige's best album IMO. It's a flawless R&B/Soul record, and I wish Mary would drop the hip-hop allusions and make another album like it. Yeah, yeah, I know, she's the queen of hip-hop soul, but whateva!

If I remember correctly, Lauryn Hill produced this jam.
Even though I liked the first three singles, I wasn't really a fan of the Mary album. Her first three albums were all excellent and so I was disappointed by this one.

This is a great song. The Lauryn sound is definitely prominent, but Mary did her thing too with the vocals.

I really like this song - great choice for a lead single. Probably a little too much of a Lauryn song, that's my only thing with it.
As for this album - I didn't connect with it as much as those that came before it - and some that came after it. I prefer Your Child and He Think I Don't Know in their remixed form - STELLAR remixes on Dance For Me.

Love this one! It was very different from her previous albums. "Mary" was a good album.

I heard this alot on WGCI back in the day. Decent song but I prefer other songs from Mary like "Real Love", "Love No Limit", "Be Happy", etc.

I've always wanted to hear this on the radio back then. Loved it the moment she performed it on Moesha.
Mary and Lauryn's other collaboration "I Used To Love Him" was also great.
